It’s Taiwan’s answer to the Grammys — so it’s no surprise to see these Mandopop stars go all out to dress up for the red carpet at the 26th Golden Melody Awards.
Held at the Taipei Arena on June 27, 2015, the top awards of the night went to Eason Chan and A-Mei; the stars took home the Best Mandarin Male Singer and Best Mandarin Female Singer respectively.
Taiwanese pop queen Jolin Tsai was arguably still the biggest winner of the night. The singer, who was nominated for nine awards, won the Best Mandarin Album and Best Vocal Recording Album for her new album Play as well as Best Single Producer for tracks from the same album.
Check out the night’s most outstanding red carpet looks in the list below.

This multi-award winner glams up in showstopping sequins and those va va voom curls and curves. Guess you really can’t go wrong with glitter, on this glitzy night.
JAY CHOU

The soon-to-be celeb dad looks dapper as ever; after all, it isn’t Jay Chou without a bit of bling, as seen on this gilded baroque-style three piece suit and matching jewellery.
PENNY TAI

Sleek, minimalist and oh-so-chic: While most stars opted for a gown, Malaysian singer Penny Tai easily stands out with this set of back-baring glam separates. It was a good night for her too; she’s the frontwoman of rock band Buddha Jump, which won the Best Band award of the night.
BARBIE HSU

The Taiwanese actress-singer sure looks like a doll in this sweet number. We’re glad to see her all smiles again, after that recent moving revelation about her and her sister Dee Hsu’s difficult pregnancies.
DEE HSU

What a play in contrasts: While sister Barbie Hsu does sweet and demure well, Dee Hsu does the Angelina Jolie in this black dress and strappy gladiator sandal heels.

Globetrotting Taiwanese host Janet Hsieh — who wed Singapore host-actor George Young just last year in Antarctica — swaps her usual traveller tee-and-pants for this lacy embellished mini dress for a night. And ooh, stars are like us (sorta!); she too gets starstruck, especially when she gets to meet the likes of Taiwanese pop king Jay Chou on that same night.
KAREN MOK

Oh Karen. We don’t quite know what to make of her outfit; it seems like she opted for an almost Elsa-like look (yes that Frozen Disney princess) in glittery stockings, shoes and a crystal-studded dress. At least you can say that she did make a lasting impression!

Singapore represent: The local singer-songwriter looks suave in this suit, on the night where he had presented the Best Mandarin Male Singer award to Eason Chan. Kudos to him for choosing the bowtie over the staid skinny tie. We’re less keen about the huge skull-shaped rock he has on though; maybe he could have left that rock star ring at home!
