Do you have a special beauty ritual for your skin?
I do, I think it is important to keep your skin clean and use regular face masks as well. [I wash my face] at least twice a day, definitely [the] first thing in the morning, and last thing at night, but normally more than twice. I love the [SK-II] products, so I think it’s just about keeping your skin really clean and fresh, and using the right products.

What’s the one beauty item you can’t live without?
I’d say it’s the [SK-II Facial Treatment] face mask; I think it’s fantastic; it’s a miracle.

Does David or your kids use any of your products?
David and I often end up sharing products.

What are the top five beauty products all women should have?
A good cleanser, polish (face scrub), moisturiser, face pack, and an eye cream.

You’ve been hashtagging #fightthefrizz in Singapore, how have you been doing that?
It’s so hot and humid, isn’t it? To be honest, everywhere is air-conditioned inside so we’re only outside for a very short span of time. But I think it’s making sure that you get a really good blow-dry and again, using the right products. But it’s great, I actually like how my skin feels here, I think the humidity is really good for skin.

When do you feel the most beautiful?
I don’t go out a lot – because I work and I have a family – but when I do go out; when me and David go out on a date night and I’ll get dressed up, you know, that’s really nice to do. It doesn’t happen enough, but when it does happen!

What does beauty mean to you?
I think beauty should come from within, as well as be the way that you look. I think confidence is beautiful, [but] I think that people have different meanings [of what beauty is]. People think that beauty means different things: I think if you’re kind, that’s beautiful as well. It definitely goes deeper than just the way that somebody looks.

But however you look, I think you should make the best of what you have by using the right products and looking after your skin, drinking lots of water, getting as much sleep as you can. Look after what you have and be the best version of yourself; be the most beautiful version of yourself.

Being a mother and juggling a business, how do you find the time to take care of yourself?
It’s just something I do automatically. It’s like brushing your teeth, you do it at least twice a day. I was taught that when I was really young by my mother, and so it’s just something that I do naturally.

What’s your secret to always looking this good?
I just think of being the best version of myself. You know I like to wear nice clothes, take care of myself, work out, and I’m happy – I think that’s the most important thing. It’s to be happy and to be thankful and grateful for everything that we have. Everyday when I wake up I think, “I’m very happy”, and that shows. I think beauty isn’t necessarily just the way that you look, it’s what lies beneath that, and the energy that you give out.

Why did you choose to embark on a career in fashion?
It was what I always wanted to do – I love fashion, I like women and I want to empower women. I want to make women feel like the best version of themselves; I want them to feel good, confident and sexy for themselves. So I think I’ve got the best job in the world, I love what I do. When I see people walking around wearing my clothes or even wearing my nail polish, they feel good about themselves and that’s great. Women should stick together and support each other.

What advice would you give to other women?
Be a good person. I think most importantly, follow your dreams. Just dream as big as you can and work hard. I think I’ve been successful, and I have worked for it. There’s no such thing as luck. If you have a dream, then you should go for it, and stay focused.

What are the the highlights in your current collection?
It’s the first time that we picked up a New York show and done it anywhere else in the world. I love this collection. For me, the starting point was my signature dress – so the sexy dress – and really pushing it, and really trying to evolve that dress, so the dress is very strong in this collection – bouncy fabrics, and subverted volumes. I love this collection, I think it is very sexy; I think the fabrics are easy to wear, comfortable to wear, but also feel really young and fresh. The whole collection feels very fresh.
