Enduring a long-haul flight? Save yourself from tears on a red-eye by removing your makeup with a wet wipe. Once your face is free of gunk, pat in – you’ve guessed it – a nourishing oil as a protective barrier against the desiccating cabin air.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, ad nauseum if need be: Topical oils are good for you. A drop is plenty for the entire face; follow up with your usual moisturiser if you’re extra diligent, then settle in for a transportive hour or two of in-flight entertainment.
What to try, what to buy? The current crop of featherweight formulas are fantastic for just about anything – I’m particularly partial to Laura Mercier’s beautifully blendable Infusion de Rose Nourishing Oil from the #LimitedEdition Infusion de Rose Nourishing Collection – with some even being good for on-the-go top-ups without mussing up your makeup. Dip your dainty feet into the lardy pond with my personal pick of the plushest facial oils, and get into the gloss!
Try: Laura Mercier 2016 Holiday Infusion de Rose Nourishing Collection, $188.

Deep-vein thrombosis, anyone? Amp up blood circulation by massaging your mien with the lubricating aid of an exquisite emulsion like La Prairie’s incredibly indulgent Skin Caviar Essence-In-Lotion. Here’s how. Use a fancy schmancy silicone massage roller if you have one, although bare hands will do nicely in a jiffy.
Pumpful of serum in your palms? All set to go. In terms of technique, all you need to do is clench your fists and press the knuckles against your face, starting from the chin and moving up to your cheeks in a gliding motion. Final flourish? Sweep outwards from your nose to iron out the kinks of your smile lines, then press under your eyes for speedy de-puffing.
Oh yeah, if you’re feeling a tad self-conscious about massaging in full view of your fellow passengers, you can easily go through the motions in the privacy of the cabin restroom.
Try: La Prairie Skin Caviar Essence-In-Lotion, $400.

Fake fab skin with a foundation-serum cocktail. Here’s the recipe I use to nail the deceptively nude skin sported in those “morning after” scenes you see on tellie.
First, create a custom cocktail by swirling together the sheerest liquid foundie and your go-to serum in a rough 2:1 ratio. Just a few sprinkles of this foundation-serum mixture in your palm will do very nicely indeed, which means you can easily decant this into flight-friendly flacons for stashing away in your hand-carry tote.
Fuse this fluid into your face by patting it in with your fingers; the warmth of your digits will well and truly meld the makeup with your mien. The result is an incredibly intriguing, is-she-or-isn’t-she sheen that’s just right for the short saunter between the airport runway and your limo pick-up!
Try: Sisley Sisleya Le Teint, $200 each in four shades.

A top-notch concealer is akin to a brightening balm in that it cancels out the dullness of dark circles, while letting just enough light in to lend the illusion of beguilingly bare skin. Simply stipple on several dots in a U-shaped curve and blend outwards with a damp sponge. Voila! A dewy, semi-sheer finish that will leave you looking like you had the plane ride of a lifetime!
Try: Laneige Watery Cushion Concealer, $35.
