Eva MendesIt’s the pre-party makeover programme that’s being hailed a “facelift from your fridge”.

The new quick face-fix diet takes just three days to work, is championed by actress Eva Mendes and promises to leave your skin clear, taut and glowing in time for the New Year’s Eve parties.

The three-day plan, devised by American dermatologist to the stars Dr Nicholas Perricone, consists predominantly of salmon, green vegetables, berries and nuts, all of which are high in antioxidants and nutritious fatty acids.

He advocates cutting out all salt, sugar, caffeine, wheat and wine from your diet and replacing them with skin-boosting, omega-3 oils and antioxidants, which protect the membrane around skin cells and help them hold water.

It’s also recommended that you avoid high-glycemic foods such as bread, bagels, pizza, pasta, potatoes, and sugary cereal, all of which can lead to inflammation, a cause of aging, in the skin.

Drinking plenty of water, which is highly recommended, is good for general health and digestion both factors which affect the appearance of the skin.

The idea is that, in addition to noticing a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles, you will see an increase in skin radiance, greater definition in the face and eye area, smaller pores and decreased puffiness.

So, can raiding the fridge take 10 years off your face?

Since promoting the diet on The Oprah Winfrey Show, thousands of women have given the three-day plan a go and it seems the overwhelming majority have good things to say about it.
