Stand out with a punchy new poutIt’s tempting to stick with your tried and tested red or pink hue when it comes to lips, but this season doing that might instantly mark you out as old fashioned. Spring/Summer 13 is awash with new lip technology, so whether you want a burst of colour, a plumped pout or a one-of-a-kind hue, your bases are covered.

Leading the crop is bareMinerals, which has tried something totally new with its Moxie lip line. The name means to have shameless sass and a punchy attitude, proving the products are a new venture for a company known mostly for its flawless nude-toned make-up. This collection keeps the skincare ingredients which have made bareMinerals’ name but ramps up the colour.

There are 18 vibrant lipstick shades, taking in everything from bubblegum pink to deep purple. Add to that 14 glosses – some of which are shot through with sparkling glitter – and ten liners and you’re really spoilt.

The lipsticks have a satin finish and hydrating ingredients, with abyssinian oil and omega fatty acids ensuring lips are kept soft and won’t dry out. They also feature vitamins A, C and E which protect your lips from environmental stresses, plus they stay put and don’t feather.

Most women love the look of luscious lips, but could do without the hassle of constant reapplication. This is where Revlon’s ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick line steps in, because with one swish you’re good to go for 16 hours. They boast a triple threat of aloe, shea butter and vitamin E to keep lips moisturised and, unsurprisingly, have a matte finish which looks like suede. There are 14 colours in the line and we’d recommend going bold with the bright Trendsetter red.

Ombre hair has been huge news for seasons, while nail art enthusiasts have been recreating the look on their talons too. If you want to go one step further why not try out Oriflame’s Triple Core 3D Lipstick range? The idea is to take the stress out of a multi-coloured look, so three shades are included in one stick. The outer section is dark to help define your pout, while the middle portion is a glossy silver shade which gives the illusion of more volume. At the centre there’s a bright and contrasting hue to finish off the ombre look. If that sounds a bit scary don’t worry, dip your toe in the multi-toned lip water by opting for the nude peach shade.

While some women are demure, others like make-up which screams individuality. Stila knows this is the case which is why it has released the After Glow Lip Colours, coming in six shades including purple and tangerine. These fat pencils might look unassuming, but they have a secret stashed inside. The coverage is pretty good and somewhere between a crayon and a gloss. It’s when you go under UV lights that they really pop though, as the shades glow neon.
