We found a website that analyses your brows to reveal your innermost feelings

As it turns out, those seemingly innocuous hairs above your eyes are a massive give-away of your innermost emotions – stuff like whether you’re secretly annoyed at your chirpy colleague or besotted with the hunky next-door neighbour. Here’s how to decode your brows in a matter of seconds!

Highbrow art

We don’t know about hips, but when it comes to someone’s secret sentiments, brows don’t lie … and we’ve got science to back things up to boot.

May we present one of the coolest concepts to hit the Interwebs in a long while – a brow-raising online “emotion explainer” that will tell you things you may not know about your innermost self.

Let us explain. It all harkens back to one Dr Javid Sadr, a professor of neuroscience at Canada’s prestigious University of Lethbridge, who discovered through the potent power of facial expression analysis that the upper half of the face (think forehead, brows and eyes) was incredibly important in telegraphing feelings like anger, happiness, disgust and sadness, just to name a few. (This is also the reason why overly Botoxed celebs tend to exhibit disconcertingly similar dead-eyed stares when smizing for the red carpet.)

Intrigued by Dr Sadr’s breakthrough, the boundary-pushing folks at Benefit Cosmetics decided to expand upon this research (with a little makeup magic from their brow products, natch) to conjure up the – drumroll, please – Benefit Brow Translator.

The be all and end all of brows

Fun fact: This makes Benefit Cosmetics the first beauty brand to work with a bona fide neuroscientist to “translate” brows for laypersons. This shouldn’t surprise anyone, really – after all, Benefit bills itself as the top brow brand in the world, and is seriously serious about the art of beautiful brows.

This techy thingamajig does exactly what its name suggests: It’s a nifty microsite that deploys the latest developments in facial recognition and machine learning (AI alert!) to reveal what your eyebrows are saying about your deepest and most private of feelings.

How to decode your brows in seconds

1  Head over to the Benefit Brow Translator.

2  Snap a selfie or upload a photo of yourself (or the person you want to decipher!)

3  The facial recognition software gets straight to analysing your brows.

4  Download and share your “real” eyebrow-related emotions by tagging #BenefitBrows on social media!

Some examples of possible results, just to whet your appetite:

A strong and straight brow telegraphs confidence and competence (job promotion, anyone?); while a ravishing raised arch may mean you’re sassy and game for a good time (drinks with the girls on you!)
