Safeguard your skin from inside out with the revitalising power of Ginseng

The new anti-ageing serum from South Korean luxury holistic beauty brand Sulwhasoo uses different parts of the ginseng plant to support skin, plump wrinkles and firm facial contours

Sulwhasoo

Beautiful skin needs to be strong and balanced on the inside. Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Serum goes deep into skin to shore up the building blocks that hold the cells together. The anti-ageing serum harnesses various parts of the ginseng plant, not just the root, drawing out the best parts of nature for your benefit. It is also a pleasure to use, as its gel-to-water texture feels lightweight and refreshing on the skin. And it has a light, fresh fragrance that soothes and calms.

Also New

Left: Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Water - A toner with Streamed Ginseng Water Concentrate that moisturises, refines skin texture and preps skin for the skincare used after it. The concentrate is extracted from the entire ginseng plant after a long process that involves boiling, drying and freezing.
Right: Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Emulsion - A softener infused with Steamed Ginseng Water Concentrate to deeply hydrate skin. Use it after the Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Water to activate collagen production and leave skin feeling refreshed and firmer.

Sulwhasoo’s Concentrated Ginseng range has 50 years of research behind it – the brand has studied the ginseng plant extensively to draw out its prized properties.

Regarded as a powerful health booster, ginseng has been used for centuries for various health concerns, from relieving menopausal symptoms to improving blood circulation. Its benefits are said to extend to the skin.

Luxury holistic beauty brand Sulwhasoo started building its legacy in ginseng-based skincare in 1966 when its founder launched the ABC Ginseng Cream. In 2000, it introduced its first Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream, which used red ginseng. The moisturiser has since gone through four rounds of upgrading and improvement.

Sulwhasoo researchers discovered that ginseng saponin, the active ingredient in ginseng root, could increase the formation of collagen and hyaluronic acid. However, it had to be consumed to be of use to the skin. The researchers went back to the drawing board and developed advanced technology to harness ginseng saponin fully, so it could be delivered deep into skin. They called the ingredient Compound K, and it is in all products in the Concentrated Ginseng range.

Following that, Sulwhasoo discovered Ginsenoside RE in the ginseng flower. This ingredient boosts the skin’s natural defences against environmental aggressors and is the bond that links the other ingredients together.

Soon after, ginseng leaves and stems were found to contain an active ingredient that restores the skin’s elasticity and protects it from external stressors. The substance is known as Ginsenoside RD, and it is added to the Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Serum to nourish the skin.

Ginseng

1. Flowers
Sulwhasoo extracts Ginsenoside RE from the ginseng flower, and this extract enhances the way the other ingredients in the Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream EX and Cream Light work together to renew skin cells and combat the signs of premature
skin ageing.

2. Leaves and Stem
Extracts from these parts of the plant form the Ginsenoside RD compound in Sulwhasoo’s Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Serum. This compound boosts the firmness of the layer of skin between your dermis and epidermis, so that your skin is plumped up
from within.

3. Roots
Compound K, an ingredient developed from the ginseng root, is used in the Concentrated Ginseng range to combat wrinkles.

Ginseng Extract Ampoule

Drink to Better Skin

As a holistic beauty brand, Sulwhasoo extends its research on technology from skincare to well-being with its Invigorating Ginseng Extract Ampoule*. The drink is rich in antioxidants such as the extracts of ginseng berry and soya bean, which are harvested through parent brand AmorePacific’s proprietary technology. It also contains a blend of four traditional herbs – wolfiporia extensa, rehmannia root, milk vetch root and angelica gigas.

The drink is said to promote blood circulation and replenish energy. It is thick, with a sweet, subtle ginseng taste. For best results, Sulwhasoo recommends you consume it every morning, or two hours before or after your coffee or tea, over a period of
three months.

*This drink is a Chinese proprietary medicine.
