Your skin is the largest organ in your body so it is crucial that you take good care of it. At the Her World x Palais Renaissance Beauty Playground event held on March 2, 2019, Her World Beauty Club members were treated to practical tips and healthy food to help them get better skin. Here are some secrets you should know about:

1. Eat well for healthy hair and skin

You are what you eat. That applies to your skin and hair as well. Tiffany Wee, in-house naturopath and nutritionist at InOut Wellness Clinic, says detoxifying your body by eating healthy, clean food will allow it to fully absorb the nutrients from your food and supplements, as well as repair and regenerate skin cells better. This means better overall skin health and appearance. The clinic is a division of Keen Lifestyle, the company which runs Wholesome Savour cafe and fine-dining restaurant Frunatic, both in the basement of Palais Renaissance.

Leonica Kei, founder of Leonica K Trichology, who has over 20 years of trichology experience, also says eating the right foods can help you get healthier hair. Her key tip: beef is an excellent source of protein, zinc, iron and vitamin B12, all of which help encourage healthier hair

2. Take care of your hands

Bernice Teo, general manager and chief trainer from DrSpa, says taking a holistic approach to your skincare is important. Besides keeping to a rigorous daily skincare routine (including wearing a sunscreen), going for regular facials, and eating healthily, you shouldn’t neglect your hands, which are can really show your age. Use a luxurious hand cream and massage it into your hands every night, or sit down for a pampering hand spa session offered at DrSpa, which readers got to experience at the event.

3. Pick the right aesthetic treatments for your needs

Dr Karen Soh, medical director of Prive Clinic and Prive Aesthetics, says one of the most popular aesthetics treatments now is Rejuran Facetherapy, an anti-ageing treatment which helps in skin cell regeneration for younger-looking skin. It uses an extract from salmon DNA to aid in skin repair for smoother skin, as well as to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Another useful treatment you can ask your aesthetic clinic about is Hifu, an ultrasound treatment that has skin-tightening and face-lifting effects. To show how much less painful the new Hifu treatments are compared to older versions, Dr Ariffin Ziaudeen, medical director of Bio Aesthetic Laser Clinic, did a mini demonstration on participants.

Besides practical tips and know-how, readers received a complimentary Body Composition Analysis from Wholesome Savour and took home a goodie bag containing treatment vouchers from Leonica K Trichology, DrSpa, and Prive Aesthetics. DrSpa also threw in a complimentary skin analysis and trial kit, while Bio Aesthetic Laser Clinic gave a beauty and wellness bag with skincare samples and vouchers.
