Stay away from aggressive exfoliators
Exfoliating is an essential part of getting clear and glowing skin. Not only does it get rid of makeup residues, it also helps to slough away dead skin cells that could clog pores and potentially lead to break outs.
However, when you’ve got sensitive skin, you can’t just pick up a random face scrub at the drug store and call it a day. This is because the microbeads and exfoliants used in most commercial exfoliators can sometimes cause micro-tears on your skin. This could leave you with redness and cause even more problems.
Instead, opt to exfoliate skin with exfoliating pads or toners instead. It’s less harsh and can be done almost any time of the day.
Be aware of environmental factors
When you’ve got sensitive skin, you have to be extra careful with the environmental factors surrounding you wherever you go.
Overexposure to the sun can cause problems but so can spending too much time in the cold too. So, if you’re travelling, keep the climate and temperature of your destination in mind and pack suitable skincare products for your trip.
Don’t cleanse with a cleansing wipe
Don’t get us wrong, cleansing wipes are great. They save you so much time when you’ve come home late and need to remove makeup.
However, while they’re amazing to have and keep around, cleansing wipes can be drying and don’t really do a good job at cleansing your face. Plus, whenever you swipe a cleansing wipe across your face, you’re tugging at your skin quite roughly and this can really upset sensitive skin.
