Hands up if you’re one of supermodel Behati Prinsloo Levine’s 5 million Instagram followers. And hands up if the green-eyed monster rears its head every time her pictures crop up in your feed. She’s ridiculously good-looking, married to a rock star (the equally sexy Adam Levine of Maroon 5), and despite being the mother of a one-year-old daughter, Dusty, she manages to look picture-perfect, with glowing skin, whether she’s on the red carpet or in her bathroom.

No one’s saying that you’ll be able to snare a rock star hubby easily, but the glowing skin part is not out of reach. Behati, who is about to make her TV debut after her maternity leave, has been sharing her “skin transformation” journey as part of SK-II’s #OneBottleAwayFrom campaign. The journey is captured in an intimate film, while her Instagram feed documents how her skin is changing with just one bottle (a month’s supply) of the brand’s iconic Facial Treatment Essence, taking it to a new level of crystal clarity. Here, she reveals her beauty philosophy, tips and thoughts on the product.

When do you feel the most beautiful?

No makeup, hair in a bun, in jeans and a T-shirt. I feel beautiful when I am feeling the most comfortable.

What skin issues do you currently face?

I love being outdoors! I love the beach and playing sports, so pigmentation is something that I’ve always had. Another issue is that my skin tends to be on the dryer side. It’s always been important for me to have a good moisturiser – nothing too heavy, but just enough to keep my skin hydrated and nourished.

What is one insider beauty tip you’ve picked up along the way in your career?

One of the best insider tips that I learnt early on – and that sticks to this day as a part of my routine – is to always remove any makeup before bed, especially after a day at work. It’s so important to cleanse the skin before going to sleep to really let your skin breathe. Makeup clogs your pores, so removing that before bed, coupled with a good night-time beauty routine, is essential to clean and healthy skin.

We know you like to garden and are conscious about what you put in your body. Does the same go for what you put on your face?

Absolutely. I’m very particular about ingredients, which is why Pitera – the main ingredient in SK-II – caught my eye. It’s naturally packed with nourishing vitamins, amino acids and minerals, and has a long history of doing wonders on skin. Skin is the largest organ in our body, so what you put on your skin is just as important as what you put in your body. Both are directly related to each other, and go hand in hand.

Do you have a secret exercise routine to stay healthy and get ready for a big milestone?

I really believe in switching up my workout routine from day to day. I’ll focus on different workouts from yoga, to pilates, to cardio in a circuit training format from day to day, so that my body doesn’t get used to one form of exercise. It helps to trick the muscles and work the entire body, as opposed to staying in one routine.

Has your daily beauty routine changed since having a baby?

Being a mum has changed so much, but for the better – I am just as happy when I’m makeup free and hanging with Dusty, as when I’m stepping in front of the camera. But regardless, it’s really important for me to take care of my skin. It’s not as easy when you’re a mum because you definitely don’t have as much time, but I love to find skincare products, such as SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, that are easy to use, luxurious and pampering – and that I know will really work to transform my skin. I have been using the Facial Treatment Essence for a few weeks now and really noticed a difference. I know that most women like me are #OneBottleAwayFrom some milestone in their lives, and that having flawless, crystal-clear skin can make them feel confident and look beautiful for any big moment. Because when my skin looks flawless, whether I am playing with Dusty or heading to a photoshoot, I feel more confident.
