Skin thirst quenchers
Is your skin gasping for hydration?

Then why not quench its thirst this Summer with a moisture-boosting face saver.

When it comes to choosing the right moisturiser it’s important to make sure you take into account your skin type.

Dry skin will need a super-rich hydrating balm, combination skin will require a moisture-balanced day cream and for oily skin a lightweight moisture boost is best.

And don’t forget that dehydrated skin can actually prompt it to over-produce oil – so it’s important to look for a cream that will balance the skin’s natural oil levels.

Oily skin
Those with oily skin are often reluctant to use moisturisers out of fear they might increase surface oils and shine but oily skin can experience dehydration too so you still need moisturiser. Look for an oil-free product that is light and doesn’t sit on the surface of the skin and isn’t too rich or heavy. Known to combat excess oil production, Dermalogica Active Moist Lotion leaves skin soft and supple with a lovely matte finish.

Dry or sensitive skin
If you suffer from a dry and flaky complexion, you’ll want to look for an ultra-rich formula. Enriched with 25 per cent shea butter, L’Occitane Ultra Rich Face Cream intensely nourishes dry and very dry skin.

Combination skin
Keep your skin hydrated without creating t-zone shine by opting for a lightweight cream such as Ren Balancing Day Fluid. © Cover Media
