How’s this for wearing your patriotism on your sleeves, heart and nails? Singapore-based labels Gummi Nails and Depression have swapped creative spit to conjure up a nail collection that’s predictably off-kilter in its fabulousness – and they want your man to try them on for size, too.
The “Don’t be Silly” holiday hoard features an eclectic mix of tartan, polka dots, Movember-like moustaches and two central protagonists – a bespectacled man and woman – making for hand decor that’s well, nail-bitingly cute.
According to Depression designers Kenny Lim and Andrew Loh, they want the boys to start playing with nail art, too – indeed, “Don’t be Silly” is deliberately unisex in its modish, black-white-red colourway (which, incidentally, also reminds us of our Singapore flag), as is befitting Depression’s predilection for gender-bending threads.
With the limited edition kit comprising 20 nail wraps in different sizes, you’d better stash yours safely out of reach of your boyfriend – not unless you want to fight tooth and nail with him for them!
“Don’t Be Silly” Gummi Nail Kit, $16, will be available online at www.gumminails.com and at Depression, Cineleisure Orchard, #03-05A, starting end November 2013. For more information, visit www.gumminails.com. You can follow the brand on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
