Living in a cosmopolitan city means our schedules are constantly packed and we’re time-pressed for almost everything – even putting on basic make-up everyday.

It’s all the more a struggle if your morning routine includes getting your children up and ready for school before heading into the office looking fresh and radiant.

Honestly, how working mothers have it all together I have no idea. Hats off to you!

I may not be a working mother, but I absolutely love any tips that’ll leave me spending lesser time at my vanity whilst still looking polished and work-appropriate.

Cue Max Factor’s make-up expert, Joy Tan, who’ll be leaving you and I with a few handy time-saving tips. Joy, who has been with the brand since late 2017, believes that, “Everyone, not just celebrities, deserves to feel special, loved and beautiful.”

She inspires the modern busy woman with wearable and truly fuss-free looks which can be easily recreated.

Besides a five-step routine to get you naturally glowing and glam every morning, Joy offered us a few make-up tips too! Great for everyone – mothers, busy working women and non-morning gals  – so be sure to take down some notes.

Tip #1. Use a lightweight, water-based facial moisturiser

It’ll save you a few minutes beforehand by helping your make-up glide on more easily and adhere better to your skin through the day.

Tip #2. Be sure to use good quality make-up brushes

It can “really help to enhance the sophistication of your make-up look”, says Joy.

It’ll provide more precise and smooth application, and hence more importantly, save you a lot of time.

Tip #3. Always prime

Apply it before foundation, so that the base lasts throughout the day.

Look out for one which creates an airbrushed effect on your skin and minimises the appearance of pores.

Tip #4. Reach out for products which erase signs of fatigue and give a fresh, natural and radiant finish

Mothers (and career women) are generally busy and sleep-deprived, so reach out for these kinds of products that get you glowing in a single step.

Joy recommends Max Factor’s Healthy Skin Miracle Foundation which is vitamin-infused to keep your skin hydrated to boost natural radiance.

Plus you can quickly apply it with your fingertips if you’d like! It’s especially great for those with normal to dry skin.

Tip #5. Use multi-functional make-up.

Nuff’ said, it’ll save you tons of time. Besides obvious products like eyeshadow quads, look out for foundations which “could easily help to shave off 10-15 minutes from your usual makeup routine,” Joy says.

That means products with the label 2-in-1 or so on (like the Facefinity 3-in-1 Foundation).

Tip #6. Carry a hydrating facial mist

For touching up while on the go and ensuring her base remains flawless and fresh, Joy swears by carrying a hydrating facial mist in her bag.

She does this trick every time and “it works wonders,” she says.

So for a streak-free and non-cakey base, spray it onto your face, then gently blot it with a tissue before reapplying powder on your face.

Now onto the effortless everyday makeup routine, that leaves you looking glowy and au-naturel! To demonstrate, we have a photograph of the finished look on none other than Max Factor muse, Diana Ser.

Step 1. Apply foundation all over the face. Joy recommends three products from Max Factor with different finishes: Lasting Performance Foundation for semi-matte; Facefinity 3-in-1 Foundation for matte; Healthy Skin Harmony Miracle Foundation for a dewy finish.

Step 2. Highlight and contour your face to add radiance and definition. Dab the highlighter on the apples of your cheeks for a natural glow, then contour the sides of your cheeks with a cream or powder to add shape and definition. Save time by purchasing products which come with both a highlighting and contouring shade – like Max Factor’s Miracle Glow Duo.

Step 3. Emphasize your eyes and do your brows. Blend a light shimmery brown shade on the eyelid, from the lashline to the eye socket and then line your lower lash line with the same shade. Use a matte dark brown shade to fill your brows. You can usually find eyeshadow quads which have these basic colours, so you don’t need to go digging for too many different products.

Step 4. Eyeliner! Be sure to get a long-wearing eyeliner pencil and simply line your eyes along the lashline for quick definition – no need for a fancy cat-eye.

Step 5. Apply a lipstick. To keep up the glowy look, use a hydrating one, like Max Factor’s Colour Elixir Lip Cushion which has vitamin E, and buildable pigmentation. Diana is wearing the rosy shade Shine in Glam.
