Matthew Williamson Spring Summer 2012 hair
London Fashion Week is just around the corner.

And while we’re anticipating new exciting looks for Fall/Winter 12 there’s still much to be said about the Spring/Summer shows, which delivered countless gorgeous beauty looks.

One of the stylists and creative minds of fashion week sponsor Toni & Guy is International Artistic Director Cos Sakkas, who worked the tresses at Matthew Williamson.

“It’s amazing working with someone like Matthew,” says Sakkas.

“He has the British heritage as well as a huge celebrity following and for Spring/Summer 12 we did sexy hair with volume.”

The models were prepped with volume plumping mousse and blow dried with a soft brush rather than a round brush, which would whip the mousse out of hair.

“Just before the models went on we brushed the hair through with a bristled grooming brush to create a shiny luxurious finish,” says Sakkas.

The subtle, effortless sexiness was decided after the team from Toni & Guy came up with a particular idea of the hair’s shape.

“The hair was left with a curve that turned into another curve, mimicking the shape of a woman’s body.

“That’s how I sold the idea to Matthew, and he said ‘That’s what I want!’ In the previous shows hair has been more boho and we wanted to do a more ladylike style this time.”

However, the effortless hair didn’t come without effort.

“Anya Rubik was opening the show and she arrived five minutes before the show started.

“There were four of us working on her. If we could have stopped time, that would have been the time to do it,” Sakkas says. © Cover Media
