maybelline the falsies push up drama mascara singapore review

While my lashes have a slight natural curl to them, I do wish they were longer and more voluminous. A theatre makeup incident as a child involving some really terrible mascara made half my lashes fall out, and I’ve always felt since then that my lashes never quite grew in as well as they should have.

When Maybelline first introduced the Falsies Push-up Drama Mascara ($21.90), the falsies claim intrigued me. I just happened to be looking for a natural looking pair of false lashes to make mine look fuller on nights out, but hadn’t gotten around to buying any.

I tried the mascara out on a Saturday afternoon with a no-makeup makeup look to see if they would be too overwhelming to wear on the daily. Below is a snap of the mascara on one side and bare lashes on the other, just so you can see the difference side by side. I used only one coat, and with a light hand.

As you can tell, the Falsies Push-up Drama Mascara actually made a huge difference to my lashes in terms of volume and lift. You can see that the curl in my lashes is quite intense, and that’s without using an eyelash curler beforehand! I did have to use a pair of tweezers to separate the clumps out of some of the lashes, but I think that’s largely because I went in with a little too much product.

Given my experience, I would recommend wiping off excess product on a tissue before coating your lashes, just so you have more control over how much product is deposited.

That said, I really liked that the wand helped my lashes curl up quite a bit, and that there was a good amount of length and volume added.

My only wish is that this were available in a dark brown shade and in a non-waterproof formula, just so I could remove it with less effort. But hey, that’s just personal colour preference, plus the fact that my sensitive eyelashes drop out a little too easily.

If you’re looking to try this out for yourself, you can pick up a tube at all leading Watsons, Guardian, Sasa, selected department stores and major supermarkets.
