You know that heart-eye-emoji face that you make when you see a product so beautiful, you just want to keep looking at it for hours at-end? That’s the Her World Beauty Team, when we laid eyes on Chantecaille’s Spring makeup collection.
The galactic-themed collection created exclusively in aid of the polar bears, what with global warming (yes, it’s real) and melting icebergs and glaciers. There are new products launched: Lip Cristal, $82 (glitter-coated lipsticks with a sparkling metallic finish); Celestial Nail Sheer, $47 (first nail polishes by Chantecaille which boast a vegan formula that’s reminiscent of the Aurora Borealis’ iridescence); HD Perfecting Loose Powder Candlelight, $123 (a subtly shimmering setting powder for a lit-from-within glow); and the Polar Ice Eye Palette, $163 (a nine-pan collection of shimmery eye shades).
Why polar bears, you may ask. Well, when Alex and Olivia Chantecaille – children of founder Sylvie Chantecaille – made a trip to the Arctic region. They found that with every melting glacier, polar bears are quickly becoming an endangered species…which probably explains their invasion on the Russian Islands.
And as with every other Chantecaille collection (all dedicated to preserving wildlife), the brand is committed to doing its part to protecting our ecosystem. For every Lip Cristal sold, the brand will plant a tree in Kenya to help combat global warming.
The HW Beauty Team will be putting to the test something we’re all extremely excited for: The Polar Ice Eye Palette. The shimmery shades and crystallised packaging looks like something picked out from a dreamy fairytale – and we almost couldn’t bear to use it. Here’s how it performed on our eyes:

“I adore this eyeshadow case. It’s sparkly and pretty. A bit OTT but it makes me happy just looking at it.
The white case with silver sparkles also brings me back to the fact that this palette represents the brand’s commitment to help the polar bears by planting trees for every sale of this product to offset global warming. It’s so meaningful because I believe that every effort to help the environment makes a difference.”
The lowdown
“The nine shades in this palette are all gorgeous. I love that it is arranged in rows with colours that work well together – pink tones on the top row, silver shades with a teal accent colour in the second row, and purple-mauve hues on the bottom row. The powders glide on my lids and have good colour payoff so I do not need to keep swiping at the palette. I love the silky sensation of the eyeshadows and definitely the shimmery shades on the left hand side are must-have accents if you want eyes that stand out.
For me, the colours stay up to eight hours looking vibrant and freshly applied… if I don’t touch or rub my eye area by accident. This eyeshadow palette is definitely a do.”

“The case is so lovely I can stare at it the whole day. Even if I don’t have to use it, I want to keep it in my makeup pouch.”
The lowdown
“I love how the eyeshadows go on sheer and are easy to blend. The colours are also buildable – this way, I can get a sheer shimmer for day and add another coat or two to switch up my look for the night. My only gripe is that on my oily eyelids, the pigments will sit into my lid crease by midday, so I need to use a good eyeshadow primer before applying this.”

“This palette sits right smack in the middle of my vanity simply because of how gorgeous it looks. Sparkly, yet not childish. And I especially love that the product is not just another pretty thing for the ‘gram. The wildlife-environmental conservation message behind it just gives owning this piece of luxury a little more meaning that it being just material.”
The lowdown
“The shadows are so silky and buttery, I required little to no effort blending them on my lids. In fact, you can easily pick them up with your fingers and pat them on.
I’ve tried on all shades and they all performed equally well – pigmented, blendable, buildable, layer-able – so there’s no discrepancy between lighter and darker shades. The wide range of colours also lets the user mix and match, which is always fun.
Shadows performed pretty well on my lids – lasted the whole day with minimal fading, without an eye primer. Though I reckon if you’re going to be out and about, touch-ups might be needed. It’s my go-to palette whenever the occasion calls for a party look.”
