So how well does it work? We put it to the test.
What it is:
The Tom Ford Lip Color Satin Matte has a creamy, lip-hugging formula which delivers a lightweight feel and full coverage. There are 10 new shades available, from corals, pinkish beige, mauves and brick reds.
The matte lipsticks are supposed to give you stellar pigment payoff in a single stroke, long-wear, as well as fuller-looking lips. The plump pout of your dreams? Possibly.
Soja seed extract, Brazilian murmuru butter and chamomilla oil.
Velvety-soft texture – it glides on smoothly and dries to a satin-matte finish.
I picked No. 27 – Shameless, a rosewood red in the tube that came off slightly lighter on my medium skin tone.
The lipstick wasn’t as creamy as I’d anticipated but it had a smooth, emollient consistency that made it easy to to apply.
What caught me off guard was the waxy shine. The lipstick texture felt almost like a lip balm but less sticky. Also, there was barely any plumping effect but my lips did stay moisturised for two to three hours before I noticed any dryness.
While the formula is quite pigmented, I found myself having to re-apply often as the lipstick transferred easily.
Still, it lasted a good four to five hours before a major touch-up (complete removal and application) was necessary.
What I absolutely loved was the lipstick tip – a sharp diagonal that made it super easy to apply and reach the edges of my lips for very precise application.
