WHAT An improved version of Intense Pulsed Light technology, VPL uses light energy to eradicate unwanted hair and halt its growth in the long term. These light pulses are shorter and more readily absorbed by the skin to hasten repair from signs of damage caused by ageing and UV exposure. VPL also ensures that minimal heat is experienced in the surrounding skin, which supposedly makes it safe and effective even for sensitive skin.
VERDICT I tried this on my lower legs. The therapist ran a shaver deftly over the front, then applied a cooling gel. This was repeated on the back of my legs. I was told the VPL pulses might leave my skin a little warm, but I didn’t feel it at all. Finally, she removed the gel and applied moisturiser. My legs have never felt softer and smoother. Awesome!
