Together with the revamped Beauty Hall in Takashimaya department store, Sisley relaunched its cabin facial services this June. Among its offerings is the Phyto-aromatic Sisleya Facial, a 90-minute treatment that is said to help tone face contours, firm skin and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The facialist tailors the products used depending on your skin type – normal, dry to very dry, or combination to oily skin.

The star product used in the facial is the latest addition to the brand’s L’Integral Anti-Age range, the Firming Concentrated Serum ($620). On top of the key active ingredients in the range – Persian acacia and lindera extracts, and soya and yeast protein complex – that targets lifestyle ageing caused by lack of sleep, frequent travelling and an unhealthy diet, the new serum uses a combination of seven botanical extracts to strengthen fibroblasts, kick-start collagen production and improve the elastin quality in skin’s epidermis layer. This in turn, reportedly combats sagging skin.

Verdict

The extraction-free facial relies on manual massage techniques combined with rich creams to tone up the facial muscles and plump up skin. Post-facial, my complexion looked radiant and my skin felt soft and toned. It also soothed this dry, itching patch under my eye. Although the serum takes time to work, as with other skincare, the fine lines on my neck looked significantly diminished after.

After the facial, I tried the Firming Concentrated Serum for about two weeks. I applied it twice a day, morning and night, after my usual toner and before my moisturiser. The serum, which has a very soothing lavender scent, feels more like a lightweight cream moisturiser and its texture is said to be derived from a “Gel Trap” technology, a water-in-oil emulsion with an especially high water content. Despite it being “heavier” than most serums I’ve used, it still manages to feel lightweight. The best thing about the serum is that it has a mattifying effect. Although the brand says that it takes two months of continuous use to see the best results, I feel that my skin is firmer and my laugh lines have all but disappeared. My cheeks, which are on the chubbier side, also appeared more lifted, making my face contours look a little sharper even though I don’t have issues with sagging skin.
