Laser treatments are a staple in aesthetic clinics in Singapore. They are used to treat serious acne problems. They are prescribed for hyperpigmentation. They are increasingly used for skin rejuvenation as they help stimulate collagen production for firmer, smoother-looking skin.
What sets different variants of lasers – nanosecond, picosecond, yellow lasers and more – apart is the wavelength of the light emitted. The doctor adjusts the wavelength and frequency of the laser to target your skin concerns, and usually one laser is used during every treatment.

At Ensoul Medical Clinic, however, Dr Kenneth Thean uses multiple lasers in one sitting to treat several skin concerns at one go – QS Laser, a combination of four lasers, which targets skin surface to even out its tone and texture; and an Anti-Aging Laser, which works in the deeper skin layers to stimulate collagen production, plump up skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Dr Thean makes sure to ask for your plans for the next three days, so he can adjust the intensity of the laser accordingly. You’ll see better results if he does a more intense treatment for you, but there will also be slight peeling depending on your skin condition.
The entire laser treatment takes about 30 minutes, after which you are shown to a room where a therapist will put on a soothing serum and mask to calm your skin down. Four sessions a week apart are recommended, after which you can return for monthly maintenance sessions.

“The peeling that occurred after Dr Thean was not obvious. My skin flaked off only during cleansing, or if I happened to rub it. It’s best to not wear foundation when your skin is peeling, to prevent emphasising it.
After one session, my skin looked brighter and more radiant. Three sessions later, my freckles and enlarged pores on my cheeks and nose appeared less obvious. My nasolabial lines also looked diminished.” – Kayce Teo, beauty writer
