What: Dior Capture Totale Multi-Perfection UV Base SPF50 is a make-up base that has been designed to provide support for your foundation. It is supposed to “add density to the skin, plump-up the skin, smooth and illuminate the skin” and provide sun protection via the SPF50.
Part of Dior Beauty’s Capture Totale range of skincare products, the Dior Capture Totale Multi-Perfection UV Base SPF50 is one of the new combination make-up and skincare products now on the market.
The product’s key ingredient is “Secale c., a purified extract obtained from a cereal, which acts on hypodermic stem cell population to restore dense, toned and perfectly structured skin”, says Dior Beauty. In addition to the anti-aging properties the combination base and sunscreen is said to give the skin a “beautiful soft-focus effect”.

Review: I’m a huge fan of using a good base under my foundation; particularly if the product also has a sunscreen as you save time with any two-in-one product after all. Adding anti-aging ingredients to the mix, like those in the Dior Capture Totale Multi-Perfection UV Base SPF50, is a smart move.
Like most bases, this product is designed to create a “foundation” for your foundation – sorry, couldn’t resist – basically this done by smoothing out your skin so that your foundation will “stick” better. The Dior Capture Totale Multi-Perfection UV Base SPF50 is particularly good at doing this, ensuring that your foundation doesn’t slip all over the place on a long day, especially if you’re out and about.
A base is not a BB Cream, it’s not meant to give you any particular coverage, although many are now tinted enough that if you wish to, you can sort of get away with not using a foundation as well as the base.
The Dior Capture Totale Multi-Perfection UV Base SPF50 however works more like a primer; it creates a nice, smooth surface for your foundation to glide on smoothly – the product includes silicone but no parabens.
There is a slight tint to the product, but the real benefits are all invisible, the added skincare and sunscreen. Although you need to use the product regularly to see the full results of the added anti-aging ingredients you do notice an immediate ‘smoothing’ effect.
If you have a tendency towards oily skin, you may find the Dior Capture Totale Multi-Perfection UV Base SPF50 a little too heavy for Singapore’s hotter months; but if you have drier skin or are heading somewhere cold, you’ll find that this base is fantastic for giving you an extra layer of protection.
