One reason why your lipstick doesn’t last: Your lips might be too dry. Pigments don’t adhere as well to parched lips as they do to plumped-up ones, so the lipstick fades more quickly. Worse still, colours are more likely to bleed into the dry cracks, accentuating a flaky, dehydrated pout.

One trick to making colour stay? Before swiping on lipstick, exfoliate (with a lip scrub or toothbrush) and apply a generous amount of balm. But on days when you don’t have time for that, try Clinique’s latest range of Lip Pop lipsticks.

Because they are formulated with shea and murumuru butters, they give you the benefits of a lip primer (like a face primer, only for lips). This helps the pigments adhere more easily, stay on longer and look more vibrant.

The range offers 13 shades, from nudes to a hot red, which are designed to flatter Asian skin tones. My fave: Punch Pop – a vibrant pink that instantly brightened up my complexion. The long-wearing formula lasted about eight hours and gave my lips a dewy finish.
