A fragrance is so much more than its scent. It represents a lifestyle, gives an added dimension to the woman wearing it, embodies a certain quality and puts forth your charisma to the world.

It is the last thing you wear to complete your look before you step out of the house so think of it as the cherry on top of a very yummy sundae or the pretty bow that wraps around a gorgeous package – you get my drift.

So finding the perfect fragrance that represents you and your style is almost as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack and that’s why we’re always on the lookout for our next signature scent.

Prada has just recently launched its latest addition to its family of fragrances – the Candy L’eau – in a bid to win us over.

Take a whiff
Blended by perfumer Daniela Andrier under the creative direction of Miuccia Prada, the scent is one that is fresh and sweetly addictive.

Zesty top notes of Sicilian Mandarin and organic Lemon strikes first with a light yet refreshing whiff, while the sweet floral heart notes of Sweet Pea gives the scent an elegant and feminine touch.

To round it off, the trinity of White Musks, Benzoin and Caramel gives the ensemble the finishing edge. Think a cocktail of White Musks  – sophisticated, powdery; Benzoin –  balsamy, vanilla-scented honey; and Caramel – sweet, rich vanilla notes  – all work together to give off this vibrant scent.

Vintage yet sensual
Scent aside, the nude and gold bottle boasts a vintage vibe. The gilded trim helps add hints of light while the frames give off a Saffiano leather effect – a Prada signature. A graceful Art Deco pattern is also seen within the box with trademark Prada geometric forms.

A feast for the senses
It’s also no wonder that the face of the fragrance is none other than the latest French cinema ingénue Léa Seydoux, who brings her mesmerising screen presence to the campaign film, directed by the famed Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola.

Embrace joie de vivre
And how often have we fell for a perfume for what it represents rather than its scent?  The inspiration behind this alluring scent is simply the joie de vivre (joy of life) ; to grab life by its horns and live life to the fullest as shown in the film. The Candy L’eau is just that, it’s unexpected, enigmatic  yet empowering. The spirit of the fragrance declares that there is no better time than now to be alive.

That’s something we can definitely jump on board with.

The Prada Candy L’Eau is priced at $102 (30ml), $135 (50ml), $171 (80ml). It is available from  May 10 at Metro Paragon exclusively and at all Sephora Stores, TANGS Orchard, Takashimaya, Robinsons The Centrepoint, Robinsons Raffles City and Isetan Scotts from May 17 onwards.
