We all want naturally rosy cheeks to make us look young and healthy. To find and apply the perfect blush there are a few things to consider.

1. When buying blush try to find a shade that is the same colour as your cheek would be after exercise, that’s when you get the most natural result. Another trick is to buy a blush in the same shade as your lips. Fair skinned people often look great in pink shades, peachy hues suit olive skin while apricot or even red blushes go well with darker skin.

2. Generally speaking cream blushes work well on mature or dry skin while powder blushes make an oily or mixed skin type less shiny. A well-known trick from makeup artists is to first apply a cream blush and follow up with a powder blush to make you glow “from within”. Feel free to experiment with blush application: Do you prefer to do it before or after you put on your foundation? The results are different and as there is no right or wrong you can figure out for yourself which option makes you look most natural.

3. If you go for a gel or cream blush dab it on your cheek bone with your middle finger and then blur the edges. Powder blush? Swirl the brush in the blush, tap it a few times to get rid of any excess product, begin applying just beneath the softest part of the cheek and continue outwards and upwards along the cheek bone.

4. If you accidently over-apply powder blush soften it with transparent loose powder. If you’ve over-used cream blush, dab gently with a tissue. © COVER MEDIA
