Are you in a state of panic because you think you’re never going to make it in time to get red carpet-ready for Chinese New Year? And on top of that – having to pay an extra fee during the festive period because everyone from your grandaunt to teenage cousin wants to get their nails and hair done.

Calm down, ladies. We’ve rounded up a list of salons in Singapore that will help you look decent enough to face your elders, in-laws, and gossipy cousins – but you’ve got to hurry up and book yourself an appointment!

1. Glitters House

You can get your nails, eyebrows, and even make-up done at this little salon in Yishun, which has never imposed a surcharge for its customers during busy periods. Glitters House is nestled amongst the many old school gems at Chong Pang market.

Never thought you could apply dried flowers onto your nails as art? The talented nail technicians here can help you achieve just that. Prices start at $60 for a classic manicure and pedicure set. We think that the best part about getting your nails done at this salon is getting to feast on some popular local delights at the nearby food market once you’re done with your appointment.

But perhaps it’s best to save a little extra stomach space for (calorie-laden) pineapple tarts when you do your Chinese New Year visiting in about two weeks’ time.

Glitters House is located at Block 106 Yishun Ring Rd, #01-151; T: 6759 2293

2. Leekaja Beauty Salon

This famed beauty salon hails from South Korea and has over 190 boutiques worldwide. Leekaja unveiled its first Southeast Asia flagship salon in Singapore last month which offers an array of services such as nail art, eyelash extension, and a wide range of hair treatments.

Customers who are in a rush (basically why you’re reading this) can opt to get their nails done using the popular Korean nail product, Bandi. This is achieved without the use of LED or UV light for curing of nails which is typically done to achieve that coveted shine and a quicker way to dry nails. Services range from $10 to $95.

Haircuts at Leekaja start at $60 and customers can sip on a complimentary mug of freshly brewed coffee or cold pressed juice as they prepare to get their tresses taken care of.

First-time customers will enjoy a 20 to 30 per cent discount off their total bill for all services. The promotion lasts until the end of February.

Leekaja Beauty Salon is located at Mandarin Gallery, #03-13; T: 6909 0504

3. Prep Luxe

Rather than impose a surcharge on customers due to the upcoming public holiday, this salon is having a promotion instead. Located at Capitol Piazza, Prep Luxe is doing things a little differently and wants its customers to bring in their loved ones aged 60 and above to get themselves pampered together for Chinese New Year. Aww!

So let your dear seniors take a break from spring cleaning, visit Prep Luxe with them and enjoy half price off all hair services. You can book appointments directly here.

Prep Luxe is located at 15 Stamford Rd, Capitol Piazza, #01-62; T: 6384 1406

4. Zinc Korean Hair Salon

For those who enjoy the Korean style of beauty treatments, this is the place for you. Their hairstylists – who all hail from South Korea – are always quick and decisive when it comes to addressing their customers’ hair needs. Just pretend you’re a Hallyu star and let them work their magic on you. A haircut complete with a blowout starts at $55 for ladies.

Zinc Korean Hair Salon is located at 9 Raffles Boulevard, Millenia Walk, #02-48/49; T: 8799 3357

5. Manicurious

Here’s another spot to pamper your hands and feet before the Lunar New Year. The nail salon said on its Facebook page that it is committed to not charging its customers an extra fee during this busy period. It added that appointment slots are filling up fast so those who work near its Beach Road store might want to hurry on down. Prices range from $6 for nail shaping to $95 for a classic gel pedicure.

Manicurious is located at 41 Beach Road; T: 6333 9096

6. Honeypot Wax Boutique

You might as well get yourself waxed while at it, right? This waxing parlour has been around for a while now and its regular customers can attest to how professional and friendly the therapists are. While Honeypot is mainly a waxing salon, it also provides other services such as underarm whitening as well as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments. Prices start at $10 for an upper lip wax.

Honeypot Wax Boutique is located at 391 Orchard Road, Ngee Ann City, #05-15 and 24 Raffles Place, Clifford Centre, #01-11; T: 6235 6686/6533 2173

7. Erabelle

Your eyebrows are what defines your face and let’s be real, a unibrow is not a good look. With that said, go get ’em trimmed! Erabelle is amongst a few long-standing local salons that specialises in eyebrow embroidery – a semi-permanent brow tinting procedure. Their most popular service is the Erabrowlogy Signature ($1,314), so if you’ve always wanted to forgo the hassle of filling in your brows – this could be a good time to debut a new set of brows.

Erabelle has four locations including one at The Seletar Mall, 33 Sengkang West Avenue, #04-19/20; T: 6702 3933
