A trip to South Korea always means return trip luggage filled with beauty products, with just about three new cushion compacts in the stash, if not more.

I’m a loyal user of the cushion compact ‒ foundations, BBs or CCs, whatever, just put it in a cushion and I’ll buy it and use it. After all, the format is convenient and a real time saver for slow mornings.

If you’re obsessed about cushion compacts like me, here’s one more you need to try this month ‒ The Face Shop’s Cushion Screen Cell, Natural.

This new foundation is said to be even more lightweight and refreshing on the skin than the existing version. Just a single layer on the back of my hand shows medium coverage, with a definite yellow undertone. It does feel cooling upon application, but the effect doesn’t last beyond the first 30 seconds.

On the face, it dries to a radiant matte finish, though those with dry skins should watch out for it clinging to extra dry patches. Pore wise, sliding the sponge instead of tapping it helps with “filling” the “holes”. This feels like it’ll be a great foundation for oily skins, though I still will not suggest skipping the powder, just to be extra safe about the product transferring onto clothes. Opt for a slightly more hydrating powder that’s extra fine to avoid “cake face”.

Like all cushions, this is said to have brightening and anti-ageing effects, as well as sun protection of SPF50+/PA+++. The cushion also has an antibacterial net. (Always remember to wash your sponge, though!)

If you’re excited to try the product, it’ll be available in the second week of March 2015, priced at $42.90 at all The Face Shop stores.
