1. Deep Care Proionic Facial

$478 for 90 minutes ($298 for first-time customers), J’s Medispa , Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, 392 Havelock Road, Level 3, tel: 6834-0012

Potent SkinCeuticals products – such as the Retexturing Activator serum, Hydrating B5 Masque, Vitamin C Firming Masque and CE Ferulic serum – are used in conjunction with a Proionic machine. The machine claims to balance the ions in the body, which is said to lead to better skin health.

The Proionic probe – which feels like a soothing warm stone on the skin – and the masseuse’s lifting facial massage help to boost circulation and drain the lymph nodes.

After the treatment, my skin was visibly brighter and my face looked less puffy. My cheeks and brow bones looked a little higher and my laugh lines had softened too. The results lasted about two weeks.

2. Clarins Anti-ageing Tri-Active Facial Treatment

$250 for 75 minutes, Clarins Skin Spa, 501 Orchard Road, 05-05/06/07 Wheelock Place, tel: 6838-5060; available from tomorrow

Unlike most facial treatments where only the face is massaged and pampered thoroughly, this covers the neck, shoulders, arm and decolletage.

A fruit acid peel, which is applied with a fine and gentle brush, is first used to thoroughly exfoliate the skin. An “anti-ageing cocktail” – customised to your skin concerns – is then massaged into the skin with lifting and soothing strokes. This is followed by cool masks that cover the face, eyes and decolletage.

Post-treatment, the dry skin on my face and arms felt supple and smooth. My face also looked fresher, firmer and slimmer. The results lasted about five days.

3. Chanel Sublimage Ultimate Regenerating Treatment

$250 for 90 minutes, Espace Beaute Chanel Seviin At Tangs, Level 7 Tangs Plaza, tel: 6738-1307

Launched last month, the new Espace Beaute Chanel offers four new treatments.

The Ultimate Treatment is meant for tired skin that needs lifting. Throughout the session, the facialist uses quick but gentle thorough pinching and lifting moves, acupressure and lymph node-draining techniques, warm towels and cold metallic tools, as well as a mask, to lift and firm the skin.

My skin was left feeling firmer, softer and moisturised. My jawline looked lifted as well. Results lasted about five days.

4. La Prairie Caviar Lift Facial

$260 for 90 minutes, La Prairie Facial Cabins at Robinsons The Heeren, tel: 6733-9874; Tangs Plaza, tel: 6836-6380; and Takashimaya Shopping Centre, tel: 6738-0575

A 20-step massage is used to apply the premium brand’s Skin Caviar Liquid Lift and Extrait Of Skin Caviar Firming Complex onto the skin. The massage techniques are a mixture of acupressure to boost circulation, as well as long, soothing Ayurvedic moves to balance the energy pathways in the body.

My skin was visibly brighter, smoother and firmer after the treatment. The results lasted a week.

The treatment was also soothing; it left my stiff shoulders and neck thoroughly relaxed by the end.
