Put the Nivea Soft Catwalk by Giles Deacon, $7.25, on your list of everyday treats that won’t put a dent in your pocket. Nivea’s new limited edition trio of Soft creams, designed exclusively by Giles Deacon, are a great beauty pick-me-up.

The World Fashion Channel’s 2012 Designer of the Year, Deacon has wisely retained the comforting and instantly recognisable white and blue colourway of Nivea’s Soft jar, dressing up the canvas with jaunty motifs that fashion observers will recognise from his body of work.

In a fascinating peek into Deacon’s creative process, Nivea says the designer sketched the designs on his iPad using pinching and “zooming” motions with his fingers. These doodles were done on the fly all around the world, and then culled to come up with the final three designs.

The “Catwalk” design, with quirky caricatures of the most memorable international runway looks, is the only one available in Singapore. The other two editions depict the flurry of activity backstage and at a photoshoot.

We’re big fans of Nivea Soft’s soothing and meltingly lush consistency – we slather it on our hands to keep them baby smooth – so we’ll be keeping an eye out for the other two designs when holidaying abroad this year!
