New herbal skin 'cocktail' Cosme Decorte Whitelogist MX b.png

It takes a fair bit to stand out from the bewildering profusion of brightening products that start to pile up on the beauty aisles this time each year. To make things a little easier, may we suggest Cosme Decorte’s new Whitelogist MX serum for your consideration.

Fans of the Japanese beauty brand will know that it was one of the pioneering stalwarts for the use of kojic acid as a safer alternative to the potentially carcinogenic hydroquinone.

Said to have been discovered a century ago by sake workers who noticed softer hands from frequent handling of the fermented brew – how very reminiscent of the origins of another famous Japanese skincare line, but we digress –  the natural whitening agent has since been incorporated into many of Cosme Decorte’s premium products.

This year, the brand has amplified its key ingredient with a new complex they’ve dubbed M-closer, a carefully curated trio of precious rhodiola sacra root, echinacea and Scots pine cone extracts, medicinal herbs long prized in Asia for their curative powers. (They’re also chockfull of flavonoids, an antioxidant that we recommend as part of a beautifying diet.)

Now for the science. Beauty brainiacs will no doubt be aware of kojic acid’s scientifically proven ability to halt the formation of melanin. Meanwhile, the new M-closer compound is said to “close off” the production of melanocytes, which are pigment-producing cells that are the seeds of stubborn brown spots and other skin woes.

Other cool stuff include a micro-encapsulated delivery system, with the active ingredients sealed off in separate mini-ampoules for maximum efficacy. A Cosme Decorte rep says these negatively charged capsules “bounce” off each other in a way that’s reminiscent of magnets repelling each other. It’s this “bouncing” action that helps to funnel the whitening ingredients deep into the skin.

Use this silky salve as you would any other serum, patting it in after cleansing and toning. Follow with your usual moisturiser. Bonus: The faceted flacon is a scintillating black jewel that’s an absolute stunner in its own right. Let it take pride of place on your vanity chest!

Cosme Decorte Whitelogist MX, $122 for 20 ml and $220 for 40 ml, is available at all Cosme Decorte counters from March 2014. For more information, visit www.kose.com.sg/cosmedecorte and follow Cosme Decorte Singapore on Facebook.
