At Isabel Marant, models were groomed, rather than made up. Besides a dab of concealer here and there, a bit of cream blush on the cheeks to add colour, and a spritz of face mist to get that coveted post-yoga skin, models’ faces were left alone. In an era of heavy contouring and highlighting, sometimes, (almost) bare skin can be a statement in itself.

According to Off-White, glitter on the eyelids is so passé. Instead, chunky glitter is placed across the nose bridge, with the rest of the face kept clean for maximum impact. Now, that’s a look.

Remember the emo eyeliner you had as a teenager? Take that, dial it up a notch, add a bit of polish and you’ll basically get the look presented at Celine. Paired with nude lips, rosy cheeks and loose wavy hair, the overall effect was rather hippie-ish, dare we say.

The makeup at Rochas was decidedly minimalist, with models wearing either brown or nude lips, and little else. However, much attention was paid to the brows – a handful of models were spotted with big brows pencilled in with black.

Want to know how to truly make a statement? Bleach your brows and add a swipe of blue across both eyes like a select few models at Maison Margiela. Is it ridiculous? Yes. Is it statement making? Also yes. Clearly, this is not a look for the faint-hearted.

We’re convinced that nothing can top the drama showcased at Manish Arora, where models wore face paint, cut-outs stuck onto the face, butterfly wings, and other assorted accoutrements.

There were so many things going on in the beauty department at Dries Van Noten, including metallic lips and stripes of colour painted across the eyes. It’s dramatic, but an appropriate nod to the maximalist designs of the brand.

Instead of your usual contouring, the makeup team at Rick Owens chose to use unusual accent colours like yellow and violet to contour and highlight equally unorthodox areas like under the nose, around frown lines, and under the lips. Eyes were fully lined with white, and the overall result was jarring and faintly alien-esque. And don’t even get us started on the bold caps, but that’s a story for another day.
