Look chic, not like an angpow from head to toe while doing your patriotic duty and wearing red and white to mark the occasion

Certain colour combinations always work, like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or locally speaking, pandan and gula Melaka. If you’re looking to match your red and white outfit with equally red lips and bold black eyeliner tomorrow, we’ve got news for you.

With a weather outlook of hot, wet weather forecast for National Day - up to 32 degrees, 80% humidity and rain showers – try a more subtle makeup look that will wear better through the day.

Nude and neutral shades work perfectly for a casual yet chic, put together look that will not need much maintenance in the blazing heat. Best of all, these are makeup staples that all of us most likely already have.

Try hues of brown, taupe and grey shadow to add understated depth and definition to your eyes. Rosy peach and pink blush or a shimmery bronzer will give cheeks a natural flush. Go easy if you tend to flush easily in the heat. On lips, #MLBB shades work best for a pretty pout that can subtly fade without much consequence.

Here are some local celebrities rocking their natural makeup look in red outfits, so you can see how it all ties together in one good looking (NDP) package.

The Singaporean singer, actress and host, Joanna Dong, is one of the singers for this year’s NDP song, the updated 1987 classic We Are Singapore. Here, she sports brown lids and a pink-brown matte lip, with a hint of bronzer on cheeks to contour.

Mediacorp actress, Joanne Peh, sports a fresh-faced look here with just a little peachy blush and hint of colour on lips.
