With Christmas just over, the exciting New Year approaches. That means partying with our gal pals, catching the fireworks and rocking fun, glittery makeup.
To help you look as fab as you feel, here are some eye makeup looks that are simple to recreate, and perfect if you need to be ready in a jiffy. We’ve got basic-yet-beautiful and bold-but-surprisingly-effortless styles you’ll want to try.
We’re shaking things up with shimmery and sparkly hues that lean more towards the warm, pinky, purple and gold tones that promise to make eyes really eye-catching. We suggest using these looks as templates to follow, or simply be inspired by them and get creative.

We love how simple yet stunning this look is.
Using a buffing brush, blend in a warm pinky-purple hue onto your entire lid. Lightly brush it close to your lower lash line too. Add depth to the crease and outer corner with a brown shade. It’s best to do this with tapered blending brush.
Lightly dust on an orange hue – like Urban Decay’s Naked Palette’s Half Baked shade – onto the centre of lids. Brush on a matte skin-tone shadow close to your inner corner and on the brow bone to create some contrast to the shimmer on your lids.
Complete the look with cat-eye liner and mascara. You could wear this look with a pink lipstick like Pony did here, or for a bold look, go for a deep reddish-burgundy lippie – like this one from Kat Von D.

This slightly vampy look is a chicer take on pretty pink eyeshadow. If your complexion is more on the fair side, this would suit you.
Using a tapered blending brush, apply a sandy brown shade all over your lid. Then apply a deep orangey-red shade in the eye socket and the outer half of your lower lash line and blend well. Then, use a cool-toned purple (try Colourpop’s Cute Alert pressed powder shadow) just over the crease, and on the outer half of your lower lash line. Top it off with a glittery champagne-shade shadow on the middle of your lid, and on the inner corner of eyes.
Finish off the look by lining your eyes and add volume to your lashes with a few coats of mascara, and even falsies if you fancy them.
Finish it off with lip gloss for an all-rounded shiny look.

Attention-grabbing with a pop of glitter. This is a great go-to because of how refined it looks while being relatively simple (and extremely quick) to do.
Start with a natural eyeshadow that’s your skin colour all over your eye. Then apply a light warm brown shade into the crease and lower lash line. With a small shadow brush, apply a dark chocolate-brown shade on the same areas, while focusing more on the outer corner. Finish it off with a gold-champagne shade on the inner corners of the eyes.
This “less is more” look requires some restraint, so skip heavy eyeliner and just apply a couple of coats of mascara. Pair with a nude pink lippie to keep it classy.

This look is slightly more dramatic, but is still classy with some pops of shimmer.
Start by blending a burnt orange hue over your lid, then go over it with an warm earthy brown hue close to the lash lines. Using a finer tipped brush for more intensity, apply a dark brown on the crease to add depth. Apply an ivory pink close to the brow bone and blend. Add a pop of gold glitter on the inner corners of the eyes and on your brow bone.
Since the look is rather bold with its cat eye flick, wearing a glossy nude lip would be a better option than a red lip.

This look is sophisticated, timeless and just a bit edgy with its strong wing.
Buff a light brown shade into your crease, outer corners and on the lower lash line. Gradually add depth here with a dark purple shade, then layer on a deep plum shade and elongate the outer corner of eyes by creating a winged shape. Apply a lilac-silver glitter (try Wrapped in Silk from the Zoeva En Taupe palette) on the centre of lids. And using a fingertip, lightly tap on a pearlescent glitter on your tear duct.
Pair it with a classic cat eye and a bold lip for a dramatic look.

There’s nothing we love more than all the fall hues that are in this look.
Sweep a light brown shadow across your eye. Then apply a burnt orange shade to your crease and lower lash line, and blend well. For the red hues, apply a burgundy-red shade over the same areas, and over the outer corner. Deepen the crease with a dark brown shade and sweep it across your outer lash line as well. Apply an amber shimmery shadow over it, and a subtle silver shade on the inner corner, tear duct and brow bone. Lastly, add a glittery red shadow to your lower lash line.
Go all out and pair this look with an orangey-red lipstick, but be sure to conceal any blemishes or redness on your face first.

This look is a little different with its sweeter hues.
Start off with a fuschia pink shade all over your eye and intensify the crease with a dark purple shade. Apply the dark colours along the lower lash line too. Then apply silver glitter, like this one from Beauty Bakerie on the inner lid to the middle of the eye, and blend this with a red glitter on the outer half of the lids, finishing in a cat’s eye flick. Then accentuate the inner corners of the eyes and brown bone with a soft, shimmery beige shadow.

This is one for the adventurous makeup enthusiasts.
Begin by blending a brown shade on your lid, going all the way up close to the brow bone. Then apply a deep purple in your crease and blend it well. Brush on a navy blue shade over your lid and your outer corner of the eyes. If you want to add more depth, use a small blending brush and brush on a little bit of black shadows in your crease. To make sure the look is balanced, apply the brown shade and then the navy blue shade to your lower lash line.
The icing on top of the cake is a bright blue glitter shadow on the centre of the lids. A touch of gold glitter on the inner corners of the eyes add a little sparkle.
With this look, you’ll want to be sure your cheeks have some colour to them. So bronze and blush, and wear a nude lip or just go sans-lipstick and apply lip gloss.
