We’re all used to her horseplay and monkey business, but perhaps painting a pig’s nails may finally be one trotter too far for Miley.

The twerking thespian’s latest boo-boo involves one Bubba Sue, an adopted micro pig whose escapades she’s taken to documenting on social media. This time, animal lovers are up in arms over Miley’s decision to gussy up with a glossy coat of red lacquer on the hooves.

Comments on the pictures posted on Instagram run the gamut from outraged to downright obscene, but the general consensus appears to be a (feigned?) concern over Bubba’s well-being. I mean, nail polish can’t possibly be good for a pig, right?

Armchair detectives have even pinpointed the precise brand of polish used, based on the bottle’s distinctive bevelled cap: Floss Gloss, a vegan-friendly San Francisco-based startup.

Apparently, Floss Gloss’ reassurance that its products are “formulated without DBPs, Toluene, Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde Resin” don’t pass muster with the vigilantes, who insist that what Miley is doing to her pet is more cruel than cute.

My take? Go right ahead and polish up your porky pal, Miley. (Well, okay, maybe not literally.) Compared to the millions of abject animals doomed to live their lives out in pens before being slaughtered for breaded cutlets, Bubba Sue is doing just swine. Bonus beauty points for the 4-Free polish!

You can follow Miley Cyrus (and the shenanigans of Bubba Sue, if her owner doesn’t grow bored of her first) on Twitter and Instagram.
