Bobbi Brown 1991 Lip Palette

Bobbi Brown once said “lipstick is one of the simplest makeup steps and great way to instantly change your look.” So when she was disheartened by the lack of lip colours available back in 1991, she created 10 of her own lipstick shades that were inspired by different women.

These ten shades all had a brown base, which in Brown’s opinion was the most natural complement to a woman’s skin tone. This Bobbi Brown Essentials line of lipsticks debuted at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City. She hoped that she would sell 100 lipsticks in her first month at the store, but she ended up selling them in just one day.

Fans of the brand can rejoice this November as they will be launching the Limited Edition 1991 Lip Palette (pictured below) in celebration of Bobbi Brown’s 20 years in the business.  The palette will include 20 shades, including the original first 10 lipsticks as well as 10 new colours.

All shades can be worn alone or you can mix them together to create your own unique shade. Bobbi Brown suggests mixing Beige with a brighter colour such as Orange or Red to create a more in-between shade.

When applying brighter or deeper colours, use a lip liner to smooth out any uneven edges. If you’re going for a matte or stained look, apply the lip colour to the bottom lip then press lips together and blot with a tissue. If you’re looking to get a glossier finish, pair the palette with Bobbi Brown’s Crystal Lip Gloss and you can double up your options.

Bobbi Brown’s Limited Edition 1991 Lip Palette retails at $99 and is available from Bobbi Brown Studios at ION Orchard, Tampines Mall, Isetan Scotts, Isetan Katong, Takashimaya, Robinsons The Centrepoint, Robinsons Raffles City and TANGS VivoCity.
