There’s something undeniably classy about matte makeup. Dewy foundation and lipgloss may look youthful, but matte looks elegant and sophisticated (not to mention less likely to read as greasy in humid Singapore). Happily, the finish is on trend too, as seen on the models strutting their stuff on Paris’s Spring/Summer 2017 runways.
The only problem? Some matte products can leave skin looking ashy or patchy– not the look you’re gunning for. Enter L’Oreal True Match, now offered in an exciting mattifying cushion foundation: The new True Match Cushion foundation ($30.90).
The high water content of most cushion foundations makes them hydrating, but usually means you get that K-pop dewy look – gorgeous, but not what you want right now. True Match Cushion has all the moisturising power of a typical cushion; up to 24 hours of hydration with one application for skin that stays healthy-looking and fresh. But the new formulation also includes ultra-fine matte hybrid powder particles that absorb excess sebum to keep your complexion perfectly shine-free for up to 14 hours! UVA/UVB protection (SPF33, PA+++) keeps dark spots and freckles at bay too, and the cushion format means you can reapply on the go, as often as you need.
Like all True Match Foundations, the formula is lightweight and ultra blendable despite its high coverage properties, leaving your skin looking flawless and feeling comfortable.
Complete your matte look with a trio of products that makes getting a highly elegant matte finish easy-peasy. Before cushion foundation, apply True Match Blur Cream ($23.90), a matte-finish primer that smoothens skin, blurs pores and keeps makeup looking perfect for longer. It has a mousse–cream texture that glides over skin and feels weightless, and a non-greasy finish that’s just lovely to the touch.
After foundation, sweep on a tiny touch of the Lucent Magique Matte Blush. The silky powder never looks chalky or cakey, and the blush comes in a clutch-compatible mini compact with integrated mirror and brush. It comes in four Asian-friendly shades to pair perfectly with whatever look you’re gunning for that day.
The final touch? Matte lipstick – but not the usual type, which can cling onto flakes and emphasise dryness. The Color Riche Paris Fashion Week Moist Matte Edition lipstick ($21.90) is enriched with jojoba oil so it’s moisturising; and its Light Illumi Complex means your matte doesn’t look flat, but multi-tonal and rich. And did we mention they all boast a lovely fruity scent too
L’Oreal has now added four glam limited-edition shades, inspired by the Paris Fashion Week SS2017 collections, to the range: Beige Couture; Rouge-a-Porter; Ruby D’Oeuvre; and Vin de Fantasme.
