As the first major award ceremony of the year, the Golden Globes is always a good indicator of beauty trends to expect and this time, there’s a new eyeshadow trend taking off that we’re super excited about. Hello, vibrant, daring hues!
The star-studded red carpet pomp and pageantry that took place on Monday (Jan 7) in Los Angeles saw A-listers like “When a Stranger Calls” actress Camilla Belle and “Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart flashing out there hues of eyeshadows in ultra-bright colours like emerald green and red. Pops of colour in candied shades are perfect for the warmer months ahead.

The secret to nailing this look? More is more. Instead of just dabbing the eyelids with a touch of scarlet or sapphire, this bold beauty look has celebs applying liberal amounts of shadow along the lash lines and blended outwards to make a statement.
The point here is to make a big and vibrant impact while keeping the look playful, carefree and chic.
In addition to the statement-making eyeshadow trend, the 2019 Golden Globes also offered other beauty trends that will set the tone for Hollywood’s busiest season of the year. Keep reading.

Russian supermodel Irina Shayk has bid adieu to her long flowing tresses.
She showed off a blunt and sleek chin-grazing bob on the red carpet.
To make your bob look this sharp, we suggest getting a professional blowout at the salon, or use a flat iron to get your mane to perfectly frame your face.
Bold red lip

Trends come and go, but red lips are forever.
A bold red lippy remains timeless through the years, gracing the lips of everyone from iconic screen siren to leading ladies of today.
“Crazy Rich Asians” star Gemma Chan hewed to the classics with her bright red lips and low chignon.
To prevent your lippy from bleeding around the contours of your lip, fill in your lips with a lip liner before applying your lipstick.
Neutral-toned makeup

The scene-stealer in “Crazy Rich Asians”, Michelle Yeoh, kept her beauty look simple yet glamorous with neutral-toned makeup and her hair styled in glam old Hollywood waves.
Her neutral-toned trend flatters all skin tones and is surprisingly easy to achieve.
The key to pulling off nude makeup is to add dimension to your face with multiple finishes in the same colour family.
Feel free to mix a bold eye with a nude lip or barely-there eye makeup with a bold lip. As a rule of thumb, light beige colours work better for lighter complexions while tans and browns work better on deeper skin tones.
Post facial glow

Beautiful skin will always be in. “Fresh off the boat” actress Constance Wu looked understatedly elegant with her glowing, natural makeup look – as if she just returned from a facial.
To achieve Constance Wu’s radiant skin, mix a drop of two of liquid highlighter drips into your foundation or face moisturiser for an all-over glow.
