Laduree macarons
French luxury macaron brand Ladurée has announced the launch of a color cosmetics range.

WWD reports December 19 that the Paris-based company, whose pastel-colored macarons are feted across the globe, will be venturing into the realm of makeup.

Entitled Les Merveilleuses de Ladurée (The Wonders of Ladurée) and created by Albion Cosmetics, the collection will include 20 different blush colours in the form of cameos as well as liquid foundation and lip color.

The range will launch in Japan this February before reaching Europe in fall 2012, followed by the US and elsewhere in Asia.

Ladurée’s decision to enter the cosmetics industry follows the launch in 2007 of a beauty line comprising items such as face and body cream using almonds (a key ingredient of their macarons) to moisturize the skin, as well as selling home fragrances and candles.

This isn’t the first time a brand popular among those with a sweet tooth has entered the beauty industry. Earlier this year Cadbury chocolate teamed up with beauty company Anatomicals for a line of chocolate-inspired bath and body products including Chocolate Truffle Bath Crème, Hazelnut Smoothing Body Scrub and Toffee Body Butter.

Meanwhile, Britain’s Prince Charles’s organic luxury food brand Duchy Originals collaborated with celebrity hairdresser Daniel Galvin Jnr to launch the first Duchy beauty products range back in 2004. –AFP RELAXNEWS.
