We all want to look better, don’t we? We buy creams and lotions, wear sunscreen and try to eat properly and exercise more. But sometimes we need a little bit of extra help; it might be sun damage from a wayward youth, the beginning of fine lines and wrinkles or a bit of stubborn fat that just won’t move no matter how many crunches we do.

This is where high quality, medically certified aesthetic procedures come into their own. With the amount of money invested in research and development of non-invasive treatments to solve the problems of pigmentation, sagging skin, wrinkles and the removal of stubborn fat, there is just about a machine to solve every concern now available.

However sometimes we really don’t want to be subjected to a cold, clinical, medical procedure; this is beautification after all, we’re not ill.

So the new Dermacare Aesthetic & Laser Clinic has come up with the answer – to combine the soothing, luxurious surroundings and efficient, warm service standards of top-end spa with the latest in cutting-edge medical aesthetic practices.

Set up on the fifth floor of ION Orchard, this is a “clinic” that looks, and smells, more like a posh spa retreat; the location also means that you can park right next door and no one will ever see you without any makeup on or looking less than perfect. There’s even a VVIP backdoor for patients who really, really don’t want to be seen.

The medical treatments are all under the supervision of Dr. Dennis Kwan, the medical director of the clinic, and are accredited – he only uses FDA Approved products – and 100 per cent safe. You can get everything from chemical peels, Botox and filler injections to radiofrequency, light-based and ultrasound-based therapies, ablative and non-ablative lasers, as well as hair and weight management treatments.

There are even actual spa treatments available using products and fully-trained therapists from Aromatherapy Associates as well the more medical products for at-home-care, the DermaC MD Cosmeceuticals which use high-potency active ingredients like Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Retinoids, Vitamin C, Peptides, Epidermal Growth Factors and Antioxidants to continue the benefits of the procedures you have.

To ensure that you can keep track of improvements in your skin, the Dermacare Aesthetic & Laser Clinic also has its “Face Vision” machine which takes “three-dimensional” images of your face and can evaluate things like pigmentation, hydration and sagging. You can then use the images for comparison on later visits; the fact that the exact same image is taken every time helps you see measurable changes in the quality of your skin.

The majority of concerns of women in Singapore are based on pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, surface texture and “sagginess” in older women, says Dr Kwan. To manage these issues the clinic focuses on using treatments like Ultherapy – using focused ultrasound to lift, firm and tighten the skin on the face and neck – as well as the RevLite laser to deliver more focused and stronger pulses of energy for anti-aging maintenance, the treatment of skin texture, pigmentation and also the removal of multi-coloured tattoos and fine facial vellus hair.

For your body the clinic uses treatments like Coolsculpting by Zeltiq, which uses cold temperatures in the “process of Cryolipolysis to diminish fat cells in the body”. This is good for those of you with stubborn pockets of fat that just won’t shift no matter how much exercise you do.

The clinic is also introducing the new, and much raved about, Liposonix treatment later this month. This machine uses heat rather than cold to work; a “high-intensity focused ultrasound” wave is said to “permanently destroy subcutaneous adipose tissue in the anterior abdomen and flanks”. It’s said that with “one treatment, one hour” you can lose “one dress size”.

On top of all this cutting-edge medical technology, the team at Dermacare Aesthetic & Laser Clinic includes a super-service concierge, a relaxing private lounge, fresh beverages including organic tea imported from Australia and bird’s nest drinks, and the aforementioned spa treatments using Aromatherapy Associates products for relaxing facials like the DermaC HydraFacial which uses a vacuum-based skin abrasion tip so nothing actually “touches” your skin except the highly active serums it needs.

So, luxurious surrounds, soothing treatments, top-of-the-line medical procedures … what more could you want? The new Dermacare Aesthetic & Laser Clinic has managed to combine pampering and medicine into a perfect storm of indulgent beauty treatments.

The Dermacare Aesthetic & Laser Clinic is located at #05-05 ION Orchard, 2 Orchard Turn, Tel: 6634 6328 and is open Monday through Sunday from 11am to 9pm. For more details on the procedures and treatments available at the clinic, go to www.dermacare.com.sg.
