We’ve always been told that in order to achieve the perfect skin, we can’t just rely on off the counter skincare products. A combination of facial treatments, aesthetic procedures and even oral supplements are necessary to show off a radiant, glowing complexion.

Now, L’Oréal has set out to challenge that notion by creating the Revitalift Laser X3, which, according to the brand, is able to yield results comparable to IPL treatments – which makes us raise an eyebrow and think: this is too good to be true. Or is it?

But how is this cream in a jar going to match up to a light laser treatment?

At the very heart of this product is an ingredient known as Pro- Xylane – a form of xylose (sourced from beechwood) transformed via eco-friendly green chemistry and a series of various experiments.

Pro-Xylane seeks to smoothe fine lines and wrinkles by facilitating epidermal regeneration, multiplying anchoring fibres within the skin, retightening skin tissues and even stimulating the growth of collagen fibres for denser, firmer skin.

The result is a highly effective object of 30 patents.

Besides using a very highly concentrated amount of Pro-Xylane, it is also further combined with other active ingredients like Hydrolysed Hyaluronic Acid (to promote cellular cohesion and epidermal hydration), LHA (for its exfoliation action to facilitate penetration of active ingredients) and Ceramide Pro (to maintain skin barrier function and improve water retention).

88 women were then put to the test with half going through IPL treatments and the other half using Revitalift Laser X3 in a span of 12 weeks. The showing by the group that used Revitalift Laser X3 revealed smoother skin and higher skin elasticity.

Considering the cost of IPL treatments, this is definitely a product that we’re likely to take a chance on.
