Lily Cole embraces natural beautyLily Cole thinks make-up should “enhance not mask” the face.

The British model enjoys being transformed by cosmetics when she is working, but in her everyday life things are different.

She knows what suits her and tends to stick to those tried and tested products and shades.

“I don’t tend to experiment with a lot of make-up, I just do what I do, but I like to play with different lip colours,” she told the latest issue of UK magazine Glamour.

“I go for taupe colours, a really natural look. Like products that enhance, rather than mask, your face.”

The 23-year-old model is also careful when in the sun. She has red hair and fair skin which she knows she has to protect. The star has grown to love her pale hue.

“In summer, I think less is more. I use make-up with an SPF. Bronzing is tricky – it ends up looking orange on my fair skin – so I prefer a deep pink blush,” she said. “You can layer it from a sheer colour to a warm flush.”

Lily was recently unveiled as the first brand ambassador for The Body Shop. She is thrilled to have landed the position as she could spend hours riffling through the shelves of the animal-friendly store.

“For me, anything that makes you feel playful and young is good. That’s what I love about The Body Shop – it’s somewhere you can try things on, spray things, rub creams in – somewhere you can play with beauty,” she explained. © COVER MEDIA
