Learn the real trick to lipstick that lasts the whole day! B.png

This is why Kiko Mizuhara’s the (alleged) GF of G-Dragon!

Let’s be honest here. You’re skipping lipstick because you’re scared of leaving behind a telltale trail of sticky smears on the rim of your wine glass, right? Wait, or are you fearful of the feathering effect, or the “bleeding” of colour into your mouth creases?

All legit concerns, my friend. But hey, if too-frequent application of lipstick’s left a bad taste in your mouth, it’s time to sink your teeth into this top tip – guaranteed to make your lacquer last through dinner and beyond, promise.

Okay, so we’re all familiar with the old chestnut about blotting for budge-proof lipstick. That’s a basic beginner’s trick in any beauty book, but mine is a next-gen, amped-up tweak that’s so ridiculously easy, you’ll probably purse your lips in annoyance at not having thought of it first.

Ready? Now, the real reason why your rouge wears off is because the dye disappears in the process of y’know, living life: Laughing, sipping from a straw, smooching; moving your mouth, basically.

The secret to beating life at its game is to think of your smackers as if they were the rings of an onion (or the petals of the plumpest rose, if you’re princessy that way.)

And when the act of eating etcetera has “peeled” off the first layer of pigment, you need to make sure you have another layer underneath. Call this base layer your Plan B puckers; it’s like a “back-up” pair of double-layered lips. Genius, right. Let’s go!

Learn the real trick to lipstick that lasts the whole day! Shiseido Veil B.png

Love, love, love Shiseido’s new Veiled Rouge ($43 each), which drapes over your lips like a dream thanks to its blend of comforting oils

STEP 1. The first order of business is to literally steep your smackers in your shade of choice. I like using an oil-based product that can double up as chapstick if you’re pressed for time. And really be fearless in piling it on – don’t be afraid of blobs and globs at this point.

STEP 2. Let it sit for a minute or so – feel free to fix the rest of your face while the lippie does its magic – then blot swiftly.

What you do is to fold a soft two-ply facial tissue in half, part your mouth, place it between your upper and lower lips, then press down gently. This blotting action wicks away oils, leaving a concentrated stain of sorts.

Officially obsessed with VDL’s Expert Color Lip Cube X ($38 each)! The bevelled tip makes this baby your best bet for precision lining, plus pigment-grabbing powders make this incredibly long-lasting to boot

STEP 3. After you’re done with blotting, the rest is standard procedure. Apply a second layer of lippie, only taking more care in perfecting the contours this time round. Using a paddle-shaped brush for precision application, start from the middle of your cupid’s bow and follow the curve down to corners of your mouth.

STEP 4. Fill it in, then dust your lower and upper lips with translucent face powder; the talcum helps in “grabbing” onto the tint. Now go over your powdered puckers with a third layer of lippie, then finish with a final pat of tissue paper.

And you’re done! Ta-dah, lips that will last ‘till the end of time. Or at least ‘till you’re done with your last flute of bubbly.

So, to recap: Stain lips, blot, re-apply, powder, re-apply, done. Your very own pair of double-layered lips. Bookmark this page, follow these four fool-proof tips and you’ll be in for a lip-locking hell of a night. Jiayou!
