Supermodel Kimora Lee Simmons is branching into the realm of skincare with the launch of a product line blending Eastern and Western influences next month.
The US model and entrepreneur has already successfully ventured into fragrance and cosmetics and is now following in the footsteps of models including Iman and Christie Brinkley in entering the skincare market.
Simmons has ambitious goals for her nine-item treatment range, Shinto Clinical, which will be unveiled next month.
Made in collaboration with New York dermatologist Eric Schweiger, products include an anti-ageing moisturiser, a pore minimiser and an eyelash enhancer, with prices ranging from around US$30 to US$70.
Asian influences can be seen via ingredients including fish oil, pearl powder, omegas, and Wakame kelp extract.
“This line is about their Eastern allure of diet and beautiful skin. It’s based on cultures that live from the sea,” Simmons told WWD.
“The Western [influence] is the medicine, the efficacy, the delivery and the clinical results.”
Simmons, who unveiled her namesake makeup brand in beauty chain Sephora back in 2006, added she has plans to “revamp” KLS Cosmetics once the Shinto Clinical launch is complete.
Shinto Clinical debuts on shopping channel QVC February 24, with retail rollouts scheduled for late February and early March initially comprising US retailers Nordstrom and Fred Segal.
The line is expected to develop consequently into the Middle East and Asian markets.
