how to apply a korean lip tattoo main.jpg

When it comes to lip tattoos, we’re no longer talking about the semi-permanent procedure that gives you tinted lips for six months.

Instead, these new lip tattoos are peel-off lip tints that claim to stay on all day without any transfer. What’s more, they serve not just as lip tints, but also as a lip mask, conditioning and exfoliating your lips at the same time.

These novelty lip tattoos have been popularised by various South Korean brands, with the two most prominent ones being SkinAZ and Berrisom. The former is available at SaSa and BHG stores in Singapore, while the latter is mostly sold through online retailers.

If you’re thinking of trying one but aren’t sure how to use it, here’s a nifty step-by-step guide here using SkinAZ’s The Kissable 24H Lip Tattoo in Sexy Red that you can bookmark for future reference.

STEP #1
First, cover clean lips in a thick layer of the lip tattoo. A good gauge is a pearl-sized amount. This will make it easier to peel off in the later steps. Clean off any excess around the lip line with a cotton bud.

STEP #2
Wait for 10-15 minutes for the product to dry. You may want to leave your lips slightly parted if you have applied the lip tattoo on the inner portion of your lips. Check if they’re dry by lightly tapping on the surface; if they do not feel sticky or come off onto your fingers, then you’re ready for step three.

STEP #3
Now peel the entire layer off. You can gently do this by “loosening” a small edge at the side of your lip, rather than pulling and tugging at your lips.

By following these three steps, you will end up with a natural stain that should not transfer onto surfaces. Follow up with a little lip balm containing SPF, and you’re ready to leave the house!
