Call me idealistic, but I always ask myself why my skin could never attain a certain level of radiance. There are days when my skin looks radiant when I wake up, but more often than not, this natural glow is lost by lunchtime. Although a variety of things can cause the skin to appear dull, stress and environmental damage are generally believed to be the main cause of lacklustre skin.

So I was happy when DHC announced the arrival of the PQQ Up Gel. According to the brand, PQQ gel was invented to protect the skin from environmental damage, while promoting the turnover rate of the skin. The product is supposed to work to renew and restore your skin, while blocking out all the bad stuff.

The key ingredient of the product is the PQQ coenzyme. The ingredient supposedly shields your skin against ageing while enhancing its renewal process. Together with silk flower bark extract and rice-derived ceramide, the gel aims to protect and repair your skin, while giving it a burst of moisture.

This product is not actually a moisturiser. Instead, DHC recommends that you use it as the last step in your skincare regime (but before your sun block, of course). For days when you need an extra boost of radiance, the PQQ Up Gel can also be used as a mask. Simply apply a generous amount all over your face and let the product work while you sleep.

DHC PQQ Up Gel, $59, is available at selected Watsons stores. For more information, visit www.watsons.com.sg and follow the brand on Facebook.
