While the Emmys leave us with a long list of Instagram-worthy hair and makeup looks that we want to try to emulate almost every year, this year’s Emmy may just take the cake for the awards show with the most glamorous beauty moments ever. Not only did stars like Dakota Fanning, Mandy Moore and Constance Wu all look stunning, they also used hair and makeup tips and tricks that can easily be added to your own beauty routine. Read on for some of our favourite looks from the television event of the year.

Kate McKinnon

The SNL star looked like a certified bombshell with a dark smoky eye. Her eyes were the focal point for the look and she kept the rest of her look simple with neutral makeup and loose curls. To brighten up her eyes, she highlighted the inner corners of her eyes with a shimmery cream coloured shadow. Talk about a glow up.

Mandy Moore

Mandy opted for a nude makeup with peachy eyeshadow, lips, and the most perfect messy waves. The “This Is Us” star posted this behind the scenes snap to the gram and shared her makeup must-have for the big night. “I have a Chapstick Total Hydration Moisture + Tint on on hand at all times and my Emmy’s look is no exception. Tonight’s choice? Pink Nude,” she wrote.

Constance Wu

The Crazy Rich Asians star let her natural beauty shine with this subtle yet flirty makeup look. She amped up the glamour with fluttery lashes, flushed cheeks, and her hair elegant pulled back. If you want to glam up your peepers, make sure to wipe off any excess mascara on a tissue before combing the product through your lashes. This prevents clumping and allows for easier application.

Emilia Clarke

Like Constance, Emilia went for a natural no-makeup makeup look and kept her beauty look very neutral. She wore her hair slicked back in a low chignon. A classic chignon works for just about any hair length and is easy to recreate. A golden tip to mastering this hairdo is to work with second-day hair. If your hair is straight, you might want to crimp or curl your hair to add texture and grip.

Dakota Fanning

The actress went for a romantic look with her hair in a half updo, pink cheeks and thick winged liner. If your hand isn’t steady enough for liquid eyeliner, line your eyes first with a pencil liner, and then trace over it with liquid to get Dakota’s razor-edged winged eye.

For this makeup look, the devil is in the details. The actress’s classic cat eye got an upgrade with gold, sparkly eyeshadow all over the lid and inner corners. Her deep side parted, waved bob adds a little edge to the look. Scarlette’s makeup artist, Frankie Boyd, revealed on Instagram that he created her yellow gold eye makeup look with the Pat McGrath Labs Mothership V: Bronze Seduction palette.

Marsai Martin

No matter what red carpet Marsai Martin is on, she always nails the beauty brief. There’s just something so effortlessly stunning about her combination of glowing skin and creamy #MLBB lip. To recreate the “Black-ish” star’s enviable glow, apply some highlighter to the high planes of your face, which includes the middle of your forehead, down the centre of your nose and along the top of your cheekbones.

Here’s a highlighter trick that we can learn from “The Handmaid’s Tale” actress. The same pearly shade that was swept all over her lids was also placed on the centre of her lower lips to create an illusion of a fuller pout.

You can’t go wrong with a timeless blue toned red lip and soft eye makeup. To prevent your red lippy from smudging or feathering, use a flesh-or clear-hued lip liner to trace around your pout. You want to use delicate strokes while ensuring you stay close to your natural lip line.
