Have you ever disapproved of any of your daughter’s beauty choices?
“Growing up, Wendy wasn’t conscious about her appearance or dressing, and I was bothered by that. I was also bugged when she put on weight after her pregnancy – I constantly nagged her to go for slimming treatments at our outlets and I kept a careful eye on her meal choices. Since then, she has maintained her weight and figure well. That’s so important, given the nature of our business. It is about walking the talk.”

Have you learnt any beauty tips from your daughter?
“Not really. I’ve always been an independent person and I’m more adventurous than Wendy when it comes to trying new beauty products and treatments.”

You can’t stand your daughter’s…
“Sleeping habits – she sleeps so late! It can take a toll on her health and cause nasty dark circles to appear as well.”

What’s the best beauty advice your mother has given you?
“There are no ugly women in this world, only women who don’t pay enough attention to themselves. I learnt that a woman must set aside time to love herself.”

What’s the strangest thing your mother has told you?
“Black vinegar pork trotters are great for the skin. She says that this dish is high in collagen and good for maintaining skin suppleness. However, the dish itself can be rather oily, which is ironic, considering that we’re in the business of weight management. Still, it is too tempting to resist – my mum is a fantastic cook! – so I often have multiple servings. I just tell myself that the collagen in the pork trotters is a treat for my skin.”

Would you say your attitude towards beauty is similar to your mother’s?
“We have slight differences in our diet. I like to eat lots of vegetables and take daily beauty nutritional supplements for healthy looking skin, while my mum prefers bird’s nest soup.”
