Get ready for velvet nails trendLuxe fabric nails look set to be the latest trend in manicures, with Ciate announcing a new kit that adds a matte, textured appearance to give nails the velvet touch.

Earlier this year, the British nail brand caused a sensation with its caviar manicure kit comprising tiny caviar-like pearls to create a 3D beaded effect.

Now, Ciate has unveiled its velvet manicure kit, which consists of a paint pot, crushed velvet and a dusting brush accessory.

The kit will be available in three colors: Mink Cashmere, Berry Poncho and Blue Suede.

Crushed velvet dominated the Fall/Winter 2012 runways at shows including McQueen, Balmain and Gucci, while at the Ruffian runway show MAC Cosmetics senior artist Keri Blair came up with three stunning velvet nail looks.

Now the trend looks ready to hit the high street too, with Ciaté’s kit to launch this August on its company website, which ships internationally.

With the explosion of nail art in the past few years, nail polish brands have been constantly looking for new ways to create a buzz.

Last year companies including OPI and China Glaze embraced the crackle effect trend with their product launches, while Nails Inc. released a polish line called Magnetic Attraction which came with an embedded magnet to create a rippled effect.
