Mineral makeup is firmly established as the beauty choice for those with sensitive skin.

And while the majority of products get the thumbs up from those looking for effective and affordable cosmetics, some brands are going that extra mile.

Pauline Youngblood (pictured left), medical aesthetician-turned-beauty entrepreneur and founder of Youngblood Cosmetics, strives to make sure all ingredients in her range are top quality and that all products look natural on the face.

“When I started my brand, the mineral makeup that was already on the market seemed to illuminate your flaws,” she says.

“I wanted to create a foundation that is beautiful and matches your skin tone.

“I hired a chemist, picked the best ingredients and gave it to makeup artists for testing and feedback. And the rest is history.”

The first product launched in 1996 and today Youngblood Cosmetics are sold in more than 30 countries and are one of the few high-end mineral make-up brands.

This month sees the launch of the new Luminous Crème Blush in two shades.

“We’ve been asked to do it for a while and it is so dewy and Spring-like in light colours,” says Pauline.

“We’ve already had such great feedback we are developing two more for Summer. They have a pop of colour and are a little bit more vibrant.”

On the topic of Spring trends she is adamant we all have to go coral this year.

“This Spring is all about red and orange so we’ve also developed this lipstick Tangelo, a great bright tangerine shade,” she adds. © Cover Media
