Dolce & Gabbana’s cosmetics collection The Make Up has announced British actress Felicity Jones as its latest spokesmodel.
WWD reported Monday, November 28, that Jones, whose latest movie Like Crazy won the Special Jury Prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, will begin appearing in Dolce & Gabbana’s The Make Up advertisements early next year.
The first product line the 28-year-old will represent is the Khol Collection, set for release in January.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana explained in a statement that Jones represents a “heady mix of sensuality, confidence and beauty” and praised her for being both classically beautiful and modern.
Relative newcomer Jones has become a rising force in the fashion world after catching the eye of Burberry chief creative officer Christopher Bailey. She made her modeling debut alongside Cara Delevingne, Edie Campbell and Jourdan Dunn in the label’s Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign.
Jones now joins the likes of actresses including Megan Fox, who in 2010 was announced as the face of Giorgio Armani cosmetics, in fronting a beauty line.
It has not been revealed whether Jones will be replacing Scarlett Johansson, who became the face of the brand’s makeup range in 2009, or is simply an additional spokesmodel. The latter would see The Make Up following the model of beauty giant Lancôme, who earlier this year announced British actress Emma Watson was their latest ambassador, joining existing representatives Julia Roberts, Penélope Cruz and Kate Winslet.
