Just for you

Just for you: A customised sample kit

Hands up if you’ve ever seen an actress on television and wondered what she does to get her complexion so supple, glowing and youthful? That’s how we feel whenever we see actress Rebecca Lim on screen. And having met Rebecca in person, we know that skin envy is real.

Here comes the good news: You can achieve the same Rebecca glow with this five-step skincare routine.

Your Glow-Up Skincare Regimen with Dior Capture Totale C.E.L.L. Energy

Boost your skin’s regenerative powers with the age-defying Dior Capture Totale C.E.L.L. Energy skincare routine. Quick tip: Before you apply the products, prep your skin by pinching it very lightly. This energises, plumps and smooths the skin, allowing the Capture Totale products you apply after, to penetrate more easily.

Step 1: Cleanse with Capture Totale High Performance Gentle Cleanser

The first step of your Capture Totale skincare routine starts with getting skin clean. This gentle gel cleanser emulsifies into a creamy foam on contact with water, and effectively removes all traces of makeup, dirt and even pollution impurities. Most importantly, it doesn’t dry out skin, or leave it feeling tight or irritated.

Step 2: Prep with Capture Totale C.E.L.L. Energy High-Performance Treatment Serum Lotion

Refresh the skin with this toner-essence. Enriched with vitamins, amino acids and lecithin (a plant emollient), it provides skin with the first, essential layer hydration after cleansing. This boost of moisture keeps skin hydrated, soothed and conditioned, while helping to restore its balance daily. In seven days, skin appears smooth, supple and plumped.

You can also use the Capture Totale Lotion for a quick hydration boost. Soak a cotton pad with it and place it on the drier areas of the face for a few minutes. It also helps to soothe redness.

Step 3: Treat with Capture Totale C.E.L.L. Energy Super Potent Serum

The star of the C.E.L.L. Energy range, and one of Rebecca’s skincare essentials, the key ingredient of this anti-ageing serum is the potent longoza extract from Madagascar. It also has an exclusive next-generation low molecular-weight hyaluronic acid, to address fine lines, wrinkles and loss of elasticity. The formula’s regenerative prowess results in a smoother, firmer and more youthful-looking complexion over time.

To get a natural-looking glow, mix one pump of Capture Totale Serum into your liquid foundation to transform it into a serum foundation and boost the skincare benefits of your base makeup.

Step 4: Hydrate with Capture Totale C.E.L.L. Energy Firming & Wrinkle-Correcting Creme

Do as Rebecca does and apply Capture Totale moisturiser right after. The creme comes in two finishes – Universal Creme and Rich Creme. The former is Rebecca’s preferred texture, and those with drier skin can opt for the Rich Creme.

Whichever variant you use, the formula boosts skin suppleness and strengthens its barrier for a healthy, hydrated and radiant complexion.

The Universal Creme has a fresh texture that melts into skin, thanks to an advanced micro-fragmentation technology that “breaks” the texture into micro droplets upon application, to enhance absorption. Its formula also contains a bio-fermented ceramide and natural vegetable oils rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, to keep skin soft and plump.

The Rich Creme is ideal for parched skin as it instantly hydrates and nourishes with its blend of glycerine, wax, plant butters and peony blossom oil extract. Addressing skin dryness is vital as Dior Research discovered that it can lead to a decline in skin’s ability to repair and regenerate, resulting in premature signs of ageing.

Step 5: Extra Care with Capture Totale C.E.L.L. Energy Firming & Wrinkle-Correcting Eye Cream

Get bright-eyed with this luscious age-defying eye cream. Its air-whipped texture is light, and instantly absorbs into skin without feeling heavy, which is perfect for the delicate eye area. It is also enriched with plant phytosterols, mango butter and a bio-fermented gum to reduce the signs of ageing and fatigue, such as fine lines, crow’s feet, dark circles, puffiness and loss of firmness.

Skincare tip: you can also use the Eye Cream as a lip treatment under lipstick, to re-plump your lips, as well as to smoothen the nasolabial lines (the smile creases from your nose to your mouth).

Try it for Yourself

Don’t want to commit to the full-sized products just yet? Opt for the Capture Totale Discovery Set, which consists of travel sizes of the High-Performance Treatment Serum Lotion, Super Potent Serum, Firming & Wrinkle-Correcting Creme, and Firming & Wrinkle-Correcting Eye Cream. The kit costs $117.

Chanel’s The Iconic Handbag campaign starring Penelope Cruz and Brad Pitt takes inspiration from Claude Lelouch’s 1966 romantic French New Wave film titled A Man and a Woman.

Both the original film and the Chanel short film are set in Deauville, the French seaside town where Chanel’s founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel opened her first fashion boutique in 1913.

The campaign pays tribute to the classic Chanel handbag which many consider as a timeless investment and a coveted buy. “We could have put in a new bag, but what is very special at Chanel is that even though for every collection we have new themes and novelties in handbags, there is only one from Mademoiselle Chanel until now, this iconic bag. It has a very special value,” says Chanel president of fashion Bruno Pavlovsky.

"I first started dating actively in the wake of the pandemic. After months of being cooped up, it was time to do the exact opposite, with the dating equivalent of revenge travelling. I spent most of my free time on dating apps, curiously swiping right on anyone I found remotely interesting.

Following a match, the steps were simple. Firstly, determine that we had common topics; secondly, make sure they’re not creepy; finally, arrange a date. Rise and repeat for the next person till someone stuck around. A couple years later, and this cycle runs itself on autopilot.

Valerie Tang, a 29-year-old engineer, does the same. “When I’m bored, I start swiping mindlessly, then I end up juggling too many [dates] at one go. The most I’ve been on was five dates, five days in a row, with five different people."

However, this results in “half-assing” her dates, and, due to fatigue, hitting pause on dating altogether until boredom kicks in and she swipes mindlessly again once more. Sounds familiar?"

Dating out of boredom to fill your time can be fun, but it can also lead to burnout if we’re constantly experiencing unrewarding and short-lived interactions. Are you swiping too fast and too furiously? Perhaps it’s time to be more mindful. Her World contributor Cherry Tan explores intentional dating. Tap the #linkinbio.

Since Glyde, a vegan condom brand, launched a viral and controversial commercial with a model asking viewers “But you wouldn’t f**k me with something that’s been inside a horse, would you?” (referencing the animal testing that many condoms have to go through due to being medical devices), vegan condoms have only grown from strength to strength as a form of birth control. Many entrepreneurs have aimed to address this growing demand in the market, while giant condom companies have also taken notice.

Most condoms use latex, a vegan-friendly material. However, in that production process, manufacturers use casein, a protein derived from animal milk, to make the latex smoother. Condom brands Vegans oppose that and look for alternatives, like condoms made from plant-based or synthetic alternatives.

There are people with allergies to latex who’d need alternatives. Some vegan condom brands make use of synthetic materials, which would sidestep this issue. With the health concerns and quality control many such brands focus on, they’re also often chosen by those who want to steer away from the potential irritants most condoms will have, like spermicidal agents. Many of these vegan brands have an environmental focus as well.

Vegan condoms have something for everyone. Here are some of the best that we’ve picked out for you. Tap the #linkinbio.

Singapore has made strides in raising employment opportunities for women, though they are still earning less than men. The median income for women working here was 14.3 per cent less than that for men in 2023, a narrower gap than the 16.3 per cent in 2018, according to the latest Ministry of Manpower (MOM) data.

The gender pay gap refers to the difference in the median income for female and male employees expressed as a percentage of the median income of male employees. For MOM’s study, the incomes of employees aged 25 to 54 who are Singaporean or permanent residents and working full-time were analysed.

Differences in occupation between men and women remained the key factor influencing the gender pay gap in 2023, among the various factors examined, said the ministry. One way this comes into play is where men are overrepresented in higher-paying occupations.

A total of 75 per cent of women in 2023 were working in professional, managerial, executive and technician (PMET) jobs, an 8.8 percentage point increase from 2018. On the other hand, the proportion of men in PMET jobs increased by 6.3 percentage points in the same period to 79.4 per cent.

Rock climbing has risen in popularity the past few years, with gyms sprouting up all over the island. It’s been gaining traction internationally: the popularity of Free Solo (2018), the Instagrammability of the sport, and becoming an Olympic sport in 2020 — and that global growth has taken root in Singapore as well.

There’s a lot for beginners to sift through when you’re starting out. First, indoor and outdoor climbing. There are currently no outdoor climbing spots using natural walls in Singapore that are still open to the public, but there are plenty of indoor options for you to choose from.

When you’re picking a climbing gym (or gyms) to go to, there’s a lot of considerations to keep in mind. From whether you want to make this a family event with kids to perhaps you’re just starting out and want coaching, there’s a gym that’ll suit your needs. And who knows, this might be the first step you take to gain a new hobby and a new community. Tap the #linkinbio for a list of places in Singapore.

An omakase meal is an essential Japanese culinary experience. Omakase literally means “I trust you” or “I leave it to you”, not something the Japanese take lightly. The diner is giving himself over to the chefs, who will turn out a dizzying showcase of courses that are typically reflective of the season’s best produce and the kitchen’s signature cooking style.

Omakase is a fine, long-standing tradition but it doesn’t work everywhere. In general, large or chain restaurants are a no-go. Places that are smaller, intimate, and which bring in produce on a very regular basis, are the places for omakase. You want to be part of the experience, so do sit near the chef. Don’t, however, go for omakase if you’re a picky eater. You should be willing to try everything, and have few dietary restrictions.

Singapore has Japanese restaurants aplenty, but it’s only at these where the omakase experience is a cut above the rest. From traditional Edomae sushi to grilled specialties, tap the #linkinbio for some places to get your omakase fix.

3 Things You Should Know About Dior Capture Totale

#1 It’s the result of more than 30 years of research

Our skin’s stem cells are crucial in keeping our complexion healthy and youthful. Dior scientists found that while the number of skin cells we have does not change with age, the energy potential of each stem cell does decrease over time. In fact, the cell’s energy reduces by 50 per cent when we hit the big 4-0. The result: Skin is less able to protect and repair itself against external aggressors and damages.

#2 It uses Magadascan Longoza to reawaken skin’s stem cell energy

Known as “the eternal plant”, this flower extract was selected from 1,667 ingredients for its exceptional revitalising power. It’s capable of not only surviving, but thriving, in extreme environments. The plant is grown in the Dior Gardens in Madagascar without the use of pesticides and fertilisers, and its flowers are handpicked to preserve its potent revitalising properties.

#3 It is sustainably responsible and respectful of Mother Nature

Some 84 per cent of the Capture Totale C.E.L.L. Energy product formulas are made up of natural-origin ingredients, with the Super Potent Serum containing a whopping 91 per cent of natural actives. In addition, the various botanicals used in the range are all grown in the Dior Gardens under the best conditions – without chemical fertilisers or pesticides, while following strict protocols for harvesting and preservation.

And Dior’s sustainable efforts don’t stop there. The product packaging is also eco-friendly, using FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) paper and bottles made from recycled glass, as well as having removable pumps, which makes recycling easier.
